Raven

"Some people call it impractical. Sure, you'll never REALLY be able to justify a handgun of this caliber... Unless your job involves breaking and entering and casual shootouts with the police on Monday mornings. You used a model like this for years while you were freelancing, but your last Raven was stol- er... lost. But that doesn't mean this one can't perform just as well."

Summary

The Raven is an exclusive weapon used by operatives in Entry Point. Players who unlocked it on April 1st, 2019, played during the 1-year anniversary or 3-year anniversary, or own the Expanded Arsenal gamepass can purchase it for $13,000 and spend $150 to equip it on a mission. Otherwise, it can only be found in The Freelancer, The Financier, The SCRS, and the Shadow War gamemode.

During April Fools 2019, players unlocked the Raven by finding it in the very last deposit box opened in The Deposit and picking it up.

During the 1-year anniversary of Entry Point, the Raven was made available to all players who played the game.

During the 3-year anniversary of Entry Point, players who completed the Day 5 challenge by completing The Killhouse on Legend difficulty in under 3 and a half minutes received the Split Gold frame, which is gold with a matte underside. Those who unlocked the frame also unlocked the ability to buy the Raven without having the Expanded Arsenal gamepass.

The Raven can be picked up in The Financier from Ryan Ross. On Legend difficulty, Ryan's personal bodyguard will also use one. It can also be picked up in The SCRS from Hemlock or Nightshade, as well as the wall safe hidden in the keycard room. However these methods do not make the Raven purchasable, and they don't have reserves.

The Raven is known for being a very powerful magnum. Though it is rather impractical to fire rapidly due to its high recoil, it deals a large amount of damage to anyone it hits.

Overview

As one of several pistols available, the Raven differs from other weapons through sheer power. It is the only pistol capable of defeating certain enemies with a single headshot on Legend difficulty, making it quite effective at preventing counterattacks with the proper build, and in Shadow War, it is an excellent choice for scoring quick headshots or finishing off wounded operatives up close.

The largest weakness of the Raven is its high recoil. While aiming down the sights, rapidly firing will cause most rounds to fly well above the intended target, making follow-up shots difficult. However, this isn't the case when firing from the hip, as the Raven greatly outperforms other pistols in terms of hipfire accuracy and stability.

The Raven is a weapon more suited for taking your time and hitting headshots, making it somewhat like a mini DMR, and it functions well in stealth. As a weapon that works well in both stealth and loud, it is a valuable asset to players who have unlocked it.

Pros

  • High damage.
  • Fast reloading speed.
  • Concealable.
  • Low spread.

Cons

  • Sluggish fire rate.
  • Perks required to conceal when using a suppressor.
  • Low penetration.
  • High recoil.
  • Ammo can only be replenished on certain maps and even then it is by very little.
  • Fairly thick iron sights that can make shooting at farther ranges difficult.

Damage Breakpoints

Below are various tables showing how much extra damage is needed to kill various standard units in a certain number of shots on Legend difficulty without damage falloff. Values shown are for when unsuppressed/suppressed.

Modifications

If you ever feel like you need your Raven to look the part for a mission, there are plenty of options available. Unlike other weapons, having custom iron sights or a laser can be quite helpful with picking up targets. Of course, there's always the stealth option as well, but you'll need to pick up some concealment perks beforehand.

The Raven also comes with several custom frames that change the color and luster of the weapon. They don't grant any tactical advantage whatsoever, but they're something to consider for when you've managed to come across a little more cash later on.

Sight

  • Iron Sights - The thick iron sights used by the Raven. They'll have to do for now.
  • Glow Sight - Iron sights that have been illuminated with three white dots, making it easier to aim at targets.
  • Mini Sight (+1) - Miniature 1.3x sight with a small red dot, granting a clear view of the target.
  • Delta Sight (+1) - Miniature 1.5x sight with a thick delta dot, granting a clear view of the target.

Barrel

  • Suppressor (+2) - A large suppressor that eliminates the sound and muzzle flash of the weapon. This lowers the threat of the weapon and slightly improves damage and recoil, but increases maximum hipfire spread. Suppressed gunshots won't raise the alarm but can still cause people to look in your direction if they're too close.

Tactical

  • Laser - A red laser that can be turned on to make shooting from the hip more precise, decreasing hipfire spread.

Frame

  • Chrome (Default) - The standard, familiar chrome finish used on the Raven by default.
  • Matte ($500) - A black frame similar to the UP9.
  • Steel ($500) - A metallic frame similar to the K45
  • Gold ($112,000) - An expensive gold frame.
  • Split Gold ($98,000) - A gold frame with a matte underside. Won from Day 5 of the Entry Point Anniversary 2021 event.

Trivia

  • The Raven resembles the Desert Eagle made by Magnum Research, specifically the current Mark L6 variant.
  • The Freelancer uses a custom Raven with a unique split chrome and matte frame in The Freelancer (mission) and several other cutscenes, which can be replicated by use of the Matte frame and the Chrome Slide paint. Critical reveals that the Raven was "a gift from a someone I used to know".
  • The in-game description is a reference to the cutscene in The Blacksite, where the Freelancer gives Rose their custom Raven. She appears to use this weapon for the remainder of the game, as she is seen practicing with the gun in Critical.
  • The Raven is made by Cascade Technologies.
  • The Bluesteel Slide may be a reference to April Fools 2020, where in a cutscene Sparrow comments on the custom raven and says "Oooh note to self - Steal Jackdaw's gun and paint it blue"
  • During The Freelancer, the custom Raven will have a slightly different description. The last sentence will read: “You used this custom raven for years when you are freelancing, and it has never let you down. It’s always ready for its next job.”
  • In the Shooting Range, if you equip the Raven, it will start with 8 ammo instead of 7, presumably because of a developer oversight when the Raven's max ammo was changed.
