Stones (鉱石生命体 Sutōnzu, lit. "Mineral Lifeforms") are creatures that inhabit Sun Jewel.
Description
Stones are subterranean lifeforms that possess a degree of metal ore on their bodies.[1] These creatures vary widely in appearance, ranging from insects to giant beasts.[2] They are the source of all metal on Sun Jewel, where criminals are forced to hunt Stones for a quota of metal as a form of punishment.[1]
Species
- Bug Stones: The weakest type of Stone, each yielding one metal.[3] They resemble a variety of insects, most commonly large ants, while others include centipedes, beetles, and wasps.[4][5] Although they appear in large swarms, they are considered by hunters to be an unreliable metal source due to their low value.[1]
- Black Rock: A powerful Stone that is regarded as the lord of Sun Jewel's mines.[6] It is a giant quadruped with a vaguely feline body and a funnel-shaped "mouth". Most of its body is covered in nearly indestructible Black Crystals, while its underbelly is smooth and brightly colored.[7] It is worth at least 200,000 metals.[8][9]
