Anne Maria Louisa Italino (September 17, 1931 - June 6, 2005), known professionally as Anne Bancroft, was an American actress, director, screenwriter and singer associated with the Method school, having studied under the guidance of Lee Strasberg. Respected for her acting prowess and versatility, Bancroft was recognized for her film, theater and television work. She is best known for her play The Graduate, which is well known in the world film industry.
