Swoosh is a recurring wind spell in the Dragon Quest series.

Description

Attacks an enemy group with a ferocious tornado.

Appearances

Dragon Quest III

Making its debut, it is learned by Priests and Sages at level 26. It costs 6 MP to cast, and is also used by Hades condors, Garudas, Belisha Beakons, Umbras, Ripper of the Rift, Dying Fires, and Chiromancer in the HD-2D Remake.

Dragon Quest IV

Acting the same as in its debut, it is learned by Meena at level 23. It costs 4 MP to use, and is also used by Abracadabradors, Cheeky tikis, and Whirly girlies in battle, as well as Draguars and Gnuicfers in the remakes.

The Hero learns this spell at level 16, and is also used by Thaumaturges and Old men of the sea in battle. costing 4 MP to cast once again.

Dragon Quest VI

Swoosh is learned by Nevan at level 15, while other characters can learn it by advancing to rank 6 of the Priest vocation and costs 4 MP to cast once again. It is also used by Hermit pixies, Gustblusters, Low djinkses, and War gryphons in battle.

Dragon Quest VII

Swoosh is already learned by Sir Mervyn when he joins the party, while other characters can learn it by advancing to Rank 7 of the Sailor vocation, and Rank 4 of the Draguar, as well as Rank 6 of the Priest vocation once again. It costs 8 MP to cast and is also used by Missing lynxes, Frighturns, Sky fries, Demon deacons, Beastly priests, Draguars, Gnucifers, Metal king slimes, Rockin' rockhoppers, Stripes, and Hans. In the 3DS remake, it is learned by advancing to Rank 1 of the Pirate and Rank 2 of the Armamentalist vocations.

Dragon Quest VIII

Swoosh is learned by Angelo at level 18. It hits one group of enemies for 20~44 base damage, and will begin to reach its cap of 52~76 once Angelo's wisdom surpasses 180. It is also used by Witches, Hawk men, Lump wizards, and Heads of state in battle and costs 4 MP to cast for the first time since VI.

Dragon Quest IX

Learned by Minstrels at level 30 and Luminaries at level 36, it slices a group of enemies with a powerful whirlwind that costs 8 MP to conjure for the first time since VII. The spell will deal 25~55 base damage, and will start to reach it's cap of 123~153 once the caster's magical might surpasses 100. It is also used by Badjas, Wight priests, Python priests, Wight kings, Drakulards, Belisha beakons, and Hootingham-Gore, as well as Whirly Girlies once again.

Dragon Quest X

Minstrels and Luminaries learn Swoosh at level 36 and 34, respectively, as well as already learned by Pirates, once again costing 8 MP to cast it. Damage calculation is Magical Might x 0.3 + 18.5, leading to a base range of 26~46 and a maximum range of 62~82. The spell will encircle the caster when used, hitting close enemies multiple times. It is also used by Night cats, Naumannborgs, Antiquitrees, Bone idols, and Elegia during the Dragon Quest Tact collaboration event, as well as Belisha Beakons, Hawk Men, Low Djinkes, Rockin' Rockhoppers, once again. Recruited monsters can also learn it by investing 12 skill points into the Woosh Knowledge skill tree after their 4th reincarnation, and is also learned by Fuura at level 31 in the Offline version of the game.

Dragon Quest XI

Serena will learn Swoosh at level 28, with Sylvando learning it at level 29. It costs 10 MP to cast and will deal 48~112 base damage, and 92~156 once either character's magical might reaches 158. It is also used by Moosifers, Gold drohls, Grim gryphons gone Vicious, as well as Whirly Girlies, Old Men of the Sea, and Naumannborgs once again.

Dragon Quest Tact

Acting the same as in previous appearances, it is learned by Raving lunaticks and Missing Lynxes at level 26, Magic marionettes and Lipses at level 16, Devilmoths and Low Djinkses at level 28, Bone barons at level 46, Pickled slimes at level 22, Great drackies and Wight Priests at level 24, and already learned by Draguars and Wight Kings when they are recruited. It costs 24 MP to cast and is also used by Elegia. A scroll of this spell can be obtained by clearing Chapter 12 Episode 5: A Misunderstanding and Stage 7 of Armful, Low Djinks, and Kisser's Battle Roads.

Dragon Quest Treasures

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by Hat hamwitches, Shadow ministers, Valhalla vultures, and Stormy sabrecats at level 18, costing 11 MP to cast.

Dragon Quest Champions

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned at level 10 when wielding the Sleepy stick and Magic circle weapons, level 20 when wielding the Gusterang and Fantastick weapons, and already learned when wielding the Sceptre of Time and Divine rod weapons. It costs 14 MP to cast for the first time since Dragon Quest Heroes and is used by Hocus-pokers in battle.
