Summary

It's an egg-cellent day for an Egg Hunt Adventure with Dora and Boots! They need your help to find the Big Yellow Egg with a big prize inside. Along the way, keep an eye out for other surprise-filled eggs, as well as a few surprises from Swiper the Fox!

Plot

Today, Dora and Boots are going to hunt for 12 special eggs called "cascarónes" filled with confetti and prizes. In the first egg, they find a teddy bear playing cymbals. Next, they find 2 more eggs. Inside one of them was sunglasses and in the other was a toy race car. Dora & Boots check the Map to figure out where the other eggs are hiding. He said that there is one egg at the Duck Pond, three eggs at the farm and the big yellow egg is hiding near Abuela's house. Along the way, they find a couple more eggs. Inside one was a whistle, while the other one was a yo-yo. Later, they saw Swiper the Fox dressed up as the Easter Bunny. When he jumped out, Dora and Boots stop him. At the duck pond, Boots scoops the egg out of the pond using a net from Dora's Backpack. Inside it was stickers. In the next egg they uncover a bottle of bubbles. After that, they find another egg on the sleepy sloth's belly. Dora and Boots wake up the sleepy sloth by saying "¡Buenos días!", which is "good morning" in Spanish. Then, they asked her to have the prized egg which fell on her belly. The sleepy sloth throws the egg towards them. After that, they look inside the egg and there was a super bouncy ball. At the farm, Dora & Boots see Tico, who knew where 3 of the eggs were hidden. Tico tells them that there was an egg by the animals that say oink-oink. The viewer tells them that pigs make that sound. They move over to reveal an egg. Then, Tico tells them there was another egg by the animals that say moo-moo. It was the cows and the calves move over to reveal another egg. Finally, Tico tells them that there was one more egg and it was by the animals they say meow-meow. It was the cat and there were kittens located at the top of the interior of the barn. Tico goes over to the cat and kittens. The cat pushes the egg over the edge and Tico catches it. Dora & Boots found the 3 eggs at the barn and had a look at them one at a time. One egg had a box of crayons, one has a flashlight, and one has a toy train. So far, Dora and Boots went past the duck pond, passed the farm, and have a total of 11 eggs. Now all they had to do was go to Abuela's house to hunt for the big yellow egg. They find it and it rolls toward them. Benny, Isa, and Tico were amazed on how they found the big yellow egg. Swiper comes back, this time disguised as a 13th egg, and everyone stops him. Dora's family come out and saw all the eggs they have collected. Dora and her friends counted the eggs to make sure that they had all 12 eggs. They counted in Spanish and sure enough, they found all 12 of them. After that, they all open the big yellow egg to reveal the biggest surprise. It was raining treats and there were plenty for everyone!

Trivia

  • This is the first Easter special in the Dora franchise.
  • Dora and Boots stopped Swiper twice in this episode.
  • In some scenes, Dora's voice from Season 3 can be heard. It is possible that this episode was produced in late Season 2.
  • This is the last episode where Papi is voiced by Esai Morales. He would be replaced by Fidel Vicioso in Season 3.
  • Dora and Boots only sing the Travel Song once because the other two times on their way to Grandma's House, they no longer sing it again. They instead search for more eggs on the way to the farm, and look for the big yellow egg on the way to Grandma's House.
  • When Dora and Boots find the first Easter egg at the Duck Pond and can‘t reach it, Backpack's face appears when they ask the viewer to check inside her to see if there’s anything to get it by using the net.
  • “Huevo" means Egg in Spanish.
  • The animation of Dora saying "Come on! Say it with us!" was reused from the episode The Happy Old Troll.
  • This is one of few episode that was a primetime premiere on Nickelodeon instead of the Nick Jr. block.
  • This is the second episode Grandma's House is the last destination Dora and Boots are going to, first being in the episode with the same name.
  • The Travel Song in this episode is used in the Travel Song Medley.
  • This is the second episode Swiper doesn't make his whisking sound the first time when he comes out, Dora and Boots instead just mention him coming out to swipe their Easter egg basket when Dora says to watch out for him.
    • Additionally, since Swiper was in disguise both times he appeared, he did not hide behind different places with Dora asking the viewer if he/she sees him.
  • After Dora and Boots sing the Travel Song, Dora says "what a beautiful day!". This may be a reference to Berry Hunt because that was the final line in Going on a Berry Hunt.
  • This is the second episode everyone including Dora, Boots, Isa, Benny, and Tico stop Swiper, first being Lost Squeaky.
  • This episode premiered exactly on Easter Sunday 2003.
  • At the end of the episode, Boots says, "I had twelve favorite parts!" instead of "My favorite part is...".
  • When Dora explains to the viewer what her favorite part was, it is the exact same one from the episode Click!, which was saying "¡Buenos días!" to wake up the Sleepy Sloth.
  • This is the first episode (in both airing and production order) to feature the new format for the Picture Pop-Up Sequence, since Hide and Go Seek and Click! served as a transition to such:
    • Dora no longer asks "How do we (rest of mission?)", following Map's segment after he zoom wipes.
    • She also doesn't list the places after they all pop up, she lists each individual place after each square pops up.
    • She no longer goes over the places following Map's segment; she instead asks "Where do we go first?" after they all pop up.
      • In Seasons 7 and 8, on the second and third times the picture pop up sequence is used, Dora list the places after they all pop up. This also happens in The Super Silly Fiesta (third time only).
    • This is also the first episode where, during the second and third time using the picture pop up sequence, Dora does not say "So next comes...?" (or something similar), she instead says, "Where do we go next?".
  • Tico makes the animal sounds in English.
  • The scene and background where Swiper says "Oh, man!" is taken from Super Map! (mirrored).
  • This is the first episode using the Season 3 art style throughout the episode.
  • This marks the second time "¡Buenos días!" was said to wake someone up. In this case, Dora and Boots said it to wake up the Sleepy Sloth like in Click!.
    • Diego and Alicia will say "¡Buenos días!" to wake up the healing tree in A Booboo on the Pygmy Marmoset.
    • Dora, Boots, and Tico will say "¡Buenos días!" to wake up the big and medium turtles, as well as saying "Good morning!" to wake up the small turtle in First Day of School.
    • Dora, Boots, and Abuela will say "¡Buenos días!" to wake up and reopen the rides in Adventure Forest in Riding the Roller Coaster Rocks.
  • Although this episode premiered in 2003, it was produced in 2001 according to the credits.

Goofs/Errors

  • It is unknown what Swiper would swipe when he appeared the second time. It could either be the Easter basket with the eggs in it, the big yellow egg, or all 12 eggs together.
    • Luckily, Dora, Boots, Benny, Isa, and Tico stopped him anyway, thanks to the viewer.
