The New Toy

"The New Toy" is an episode of Wander Over Yonder.

Synopsis

In their latest plan to stop Lord Dominator, Peepers invents a ray that freezes anything, even anyone. However, Hater's new crush on her constantly gets in the way as he tries recklessly to get her to notice him in his new ride.

Plot

Commander Peepers is giving a presentation on using the chemical called Frostonium 17 to be used as a gun on Lord Dominator. Lord Hater is not listening and instead concocts a plan to woo her with a vehicle of his own called Hater's Amazing Totally Excellent Rampage Vehicle (H.A.T.E. R.V.) which he presents in the form of a live action toy commercial. Peepers is annoyed at how Hater is more interested in marrying Dominator instead of defeating her and they differ on their views. Hater tells Peepers that since he cares about his plan so much, he should do it without him, which he obliges without hesitation.

They find Dominator drilling into her latest planet and Peepers sends the Watchdogs into battle to attack her, though she swats them away without hesitation. Hater is revealed to have built the H.A.T.E. R.V. anyway, using the toy specifications, and does everything he can to show off to Dominator. However, Hater continues to mangle Peepers' plan in the process as he has the vehicle drive through boxes and Watchdogs to make an entrance, have it fly so that she can see him and makes it float on a nearby lake so that he can reach her. All these efforts fail due to the toyetic nature of the H.A.T.E. R.V.

Eventually, Dominator blasts everyone back and Peepers decides that they can use Hater's vehicle by strapping the Frostonium gun on the top and having Hater approach her with it. Peepers has the Watchdogs attack from every angle as Hater finally manages to make it all the way to Dominator to show off. Dominator seems to actually like the car, though she sees the obvious plan and convinces Hater to let her drive it. She drives it through the Watchdogs and uses the weapons on them; during which Hater tells her that he loves her. She simply tells him "Ugh, I know" and uses the gun to freeze Hater's ship before flying away. Despite his defeat, Hater is happy that Dominator liked his car, much to Peepers' irritation.

End Credits

Peepers makes Lord Hater thaw the Skullship with a hairdryer. When Hater stops, Peepers angrily points to the ship which made Hater go back to thawing the ship out.

Trivia

• This is the third episode not to feature Wander and Sylvia ("The Axe", "The Good Bad Guy").
• The toy ad has the following disclaimer:
  • "Warning: This is not a real toy. This will NEVER be a real toy. It is both insanely dangerous and commercially unsound. Lord Hater is neither a licensed toy designer or engineer. Please do not try to build or bootleg this toy for yourself."
• Lord Hater performs the Speed Racer stance when he hops out of his car.
