Kevin's plan to teach Gretel not to rely on her powers is interrupted when he's taken captive by hill people.
Plot
Upon discovering Hamster and Gretel playing video games instead of training for their upcoming battle with Mordros the Annihilator, Kevin decides that Gretel will partake in a training exercise he has arranged. However, he insists that Gretel do so without using her superpowers, reasoning that she may need to rely on her wits to win. While teaching her that "[Gretel] can learn a lot from nature" and "[Gretel's] weaknesses can be [her] strengths," Kevin is suddenly kidnapped by a group known as the Mountain Men, who are upset with Kevin for being a "hill person" that has trespassed on their land.
Gretel, having realized that Kevin is no longer nearby, mistakes his kidnapping for a challenge he has created and decides to put her newfound knowledge to the test. After evading some of the Mountain Men through the use of camouflage and some of nature's resources, Gretel finds Kevin locked in a cage as the Mountain Men prepare to torture him. Despite Kevin pleading with her to use her powers, Gretel still believes Kevin has arranged for "actors" to train her. Once they learn that Kevin and Gretel are siblings, the Mountain Men decide to punish them by having them eat berries while being thrown into the Pit of Despair. Gretel then challenges the Mountain Men to "trial by combat," which she wins through the use of a chipmunk.
Meanwhile, Hamster is to attend a meet-and-greet at a local preschool, only for the children to begin throwing tantrums when they are informed that Gretel is not coming. Though he attempts to settle them down, the children remain restless, prompting Hamster to seek refuge. Eventually, Hamster resorts to allowing the children to pet him.
