Miss Moose

"Miss Moose" is the second segment of the twenty-eighth episode of Pepper Ann. It aired on February 7, 2000.

Synopsis

Pepper Ann tries to make her androgynous sister, Moose (born Margaret Rose Pearson), into the epitome of femininity.

Plot

Pepper Ann is proud of her sister Moose for her athletic ability. While watching her sister play, Stuart refers to Moose as her "little brother". Pepper Ann playfully corrects him. Later, Lamar Abu-Dabe also calls Moose a boy, which begins to anger Pepper Ann. She begins to think that people will continue to mistake her for a boy; leading to terrible consequences. After angrily spatting at Dieter, Pepper Ann resolves to do everything she can to make her sister more feminine.

Pepper Ann attempts to give Moose a new hairdo to resemble that of Supermodel Mindy, but Moose and Ned think it makes her look like Coolio. Pepper Ann then tries to gives Moose make up, which she and Crash use as war makeup. In a last-ditch attempt, Pepper Ann resorts to swapping out all of her things with more girly and effeminate wares, but this backfires with Moose threatening Pepper Ann's roller blades to get her stuff back. Pepper Ann suggests taking Moose out to a fancy restaurant, though she chooses to wear a nice suit. Pepper Ann's actions begin to anger the lead waitress to the point that she scolds Pepper Ann for not being girly. Moose stands up for her and tells her that girls can act however they want regardless.

Pepper Ann feels terrible for how she was treating Moose and after having another encounter with Dieter resolves to set things right with her. She sees Moose playing with her friends by hopping over her arms. When Moose's friend Sean comments on how gross it is, Pepper Ann scolds him for being sexist. However, he was grossed out regardless and another girl comments that she thought it was cool. Sean reveals that he has a Suzy Bake Oven because he wants to be a baker. Realizing that the younger kids are more gender aware than she gave them credit for, Pepper Ann decides to play football with them. Ironically, Moose tells Pepper Ann she plays like a girl... who has never played football before.
