Get In

"Get In" is the sixth episode of the Disney+ animated series The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. It premiered on March 23, 2022 on Disney+ and aired on January 21, 2023 on Disney Channel.

Synopsis

After her parents forget to pick her up, Penny starts a rideshare company aimed at kids whose parents are too busy to drive them.

Plot

After a night of feeding the homeless, Penny and her friends wait anxiously and impatiently for her parents. KG manages to get away via a drone while Uncle Bobby shows up for some tacos that Dijonay is saving for her siblings. He agrees to take the girls home, but not before eating all of Dijonay's tacos.

It is later revealed that Trudy had an emergency involving puppies, Oscar was trying to take Mr. Chips' picture and Suga Mama was watching television with Papi. Penny vents her frustration on parents not being able to pick their own children up, but Suga Mama cites that she never picked Oscar up even though he states otherwise, but before he can go any further that the "XYZ generation wants everything on a silver platter", Trudy orders him to pick the twins up. The next night, Trudy comes home exhausted, having to deliver two horses, a goat and a giraffe. To their surprise, Penny comes back with Bebe and Cece, again after being picked up by Uncle Bobby. Her anger disappears the next morning, when she is inspired by starting her own Uber and Lyft-esque riding service called Get In, its purpose to pick up children after school whenever their parents are preoccupied.

Penny and her friends arrive at Penny's treehouse to discuss the plans for Get In. She presents the plans, assisted by Maya and her own laptop. All they have to do is learn code and start a marketing fund. They get Papi to make the calls and interview Peabo on the demographics. They also enlist Sir Paid-a-Lot to get involved as he is need of a second hustle. As KG is in need of $200, Penny decides to ask her father for the extra money, but he finds the idea absurd, even though it will also make a reasonable income for Penny. Suga Mama comes to the rescue by providing Penny with the money. A jealous Oscar chides his mother for not giving him any money to start his dreams, calling her a nightmare. She then scares him away with a clown face.

At the mall, Penny and her friends send flyers and start a fundraiser for Get In, hiring drivers and getting Bobby and Papi as their first employees. Unfortunately, as it turns out, Sir Paid-a-Lot quit and Dijonay's siblings carjacked Bobby. In addition, the Gross Sisters have gone vrial with a new music video while riding in Papi's car. In need of money to find a new driver, Penny decides show up on the game show, Crab Barrel, with the intention of winning the reward money.

One week later, Penny's friends show up at the Proud Family house to watch Penny and Bobby on television. Penny presents her plans for Get in to go nationwide and Bobby puts on a show about a nacho song. When one of the judges asks Penny if she is a related to Oscar Proud, (who had once caused a crab to upsize thanks to a growing snack ten years ago) Penny proudly states "Yep! That's my daddy!" The Proud adults are overpowered by shame. However, Penny still ends up winning when, thanks to Bobby trying to swat a fly, their competitor, a French aviator in a fly suit gets thrown into the water.

Although things are looking down for Oscar, having been injured by a large snake while being manhandled by an animal rights inspector and finding out that Mr. Chips has been hired by Get In, things are looking up for Penny, whose own company has been given a high scale office. Oscar heads over to the Get In office on crutches and Penny thanks him for inspiring her. She even offers him a job as president of public relations, but before things can get up and right for the both of them, Vanessa Vue reveals that she brought a boatload of Get In stock, preceded by a news report involving Mr. Chips and a fake driver's license. When Suga Mama finds Oscar liable, he is sent to prison with Mr. Chips while Penny ends up getting less than she deserves since the stock that Vue bought succeeded in driving the company to bankruptcy. After some time in the county jail, Mr. Chips' attorney arrives to collect the simian, leaving Oscar to be flushed down a toilet.

  • Crab Barrel is clearly a parody of Shark Tank.
  • Neato Tito resembles Walter Mercado.
  • The segment where Bobby dives into a vault of nachos is similar to how Scrooge McDuck dives into his Money Bin.
  • The Dysfunktional song from the original The Proud Family returns.
  • The rolling credits that can be seen on Suga Mama and Papi's "The Old and the Listless" (which is a parody of soap opera The Young and the Restless) TV show are actually Louder and Prouder's credits.
