"Beach Day" is the first segment of the thirtieth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Kiff.
Synopsis
Barry and the Chatterleys go to the beach.
Plot
The Chatterleys and Barry take a trip to Bannister Beach, where Kiff plans to relax while eating some fries she saved from the road trip there, while Beryl plans to sit back and read. Martin, who as a child used to bury Pat in the sand but never got to be buried himself, asks Kiff and Barry to bury him in the sand so that he can make the other beachgoers laugh and become the center of attention. While burying Martin, Kiff spots a young seagull eyeing her fries.
While reading, Beryl is hit by a loose volleyball and discovers that her obnoxious high school volleyball rival, Dennis, is also at the beach. Kiff and Barry finish burying Martin and move further down the beach to get away from the seagull. Beverly then arrives and unknowingly places her chair over Martin's head, and is unable to hear him because she is wearing noise-cancelling headphones.
Dennis taunts Beryl, who has not played volleyball in years, for losing to him in a championship back in high school. Beryl points out that he only won on a bizarre technicality due to a bird landing on the net and lowering it during his final serve, and is then challenged to a rematch by Dennis. Meanwhile, Martin remains trapped in the sand and is attacked by a crab. Barry wants to go wading in the ocean, but Kiff is concerned about leaving her fries unguarded.
Beryl is goaded by Dennis into accepting the rematch, but needs to find a partner. Kiff wraps her fries in a towel to protect them before wading with Barry, but while in the water, she spots the seagull on the shore holding a pack of fries. Kiff returns to shore and sees that her fries have been stolen. Martin, whose mustache has been snipped by multiple crabs, overhears that the tide is coming and assumes that this means Beverly will soon move her chair.
Kiff takes the fries from the seagull, but is confronted by the seagull's brothers, who say Kiff has no proof the fries are hers and force her to return them. As Kiff walks away, she notices the seagull staring smugly at her, confirming Kiff's suspicions. After seeing Beverly spike back a loose volleyball, Beryl learns that Beverly is good at volleyball and partners up with her. With Beverly gone, Martin attempts to get out of his hole by burrowing underground instead.
Determined to expose the seagull as a thief, Kiff ties her last fry to a piece of string acquired by Barry, intending to catch the seagull in the act. However, the seagull flies away with the fry in her mouth, dragging Kiff and Barry, who are holding onto the string, across the beach. Martin reemerges from the sand on the side of the beach where the volleyball match is taking place, and Dennis ends up tripping on Martin's head. Beryl is about to win the match, but in yet another fluke accident, the top of the net unravels – as the string Barry obtained was actually a loose thread from the net – allowing Dennis' serve to unexpectedly go through and win him the match.
The Chatterleys return home in bad moods due to their respective experiences at the beach. Barry cheers them up by pointing out the hilarity of the day's events. Back at the beach, numerous other objects have gotten caught in the string, causing them to be dragged by the seagull as she flies away.
