Shadowfang

Shadowfang is a unique Two-Handed Sword in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.

Although it is significantly stronger when wielded with two hands, Shadowfang has little useful bonuses that can effectively be carried on later in game.

One of its most striking features is its added Cold damage. Although its damage is moderate at best, it does slow enemies for a fair amount of time. Despite the fact that cold duration is decreased in Nightmare and Hell difficulties, compared to other unique swords with similar effects such as Gleamscythe, its cold duration is far longer.

Shadowfang also provides mana and life leech, both useful for many physical fighters. Its increased Cold Resist seems rather arbitrary, but its decreased Light Radius may also be useful for physical fighters, since it prevents enemy archers and mages from seeing them sooner.

It appears green in-game.

Lore

Shadowfang is a type of demonblade. It was constructed at the Hellforge. Izual launched an assault to prevent its completion, but failed, and was taken captive.[1]
