The Hollows are a monster family in Diablo IV, introduced in Vessel of Hatred.
Lore
The Hollows are composed of a tar-like substance, and are connected with Mephisto. They have been described as an "infection."[1]
History
The Hollows were first created by the Bloodied Wolf in the period after the Mage Clan Wars. They were spread across Teganze.[2]
Over a millennium later, the Hollows were inadvertently reawakened by Neyrelle as she entered Nahantu in 1336. Corruption from the soulstone containing Mephisto burnt her hand, which she dipped into the water to cool. Mephisto's hatred, made manifest in the form of a black, tar-like substance, spread from the river into the jungle itself, corrupting the flora and in so doing, giving rise to the Hollows. They were promptly engaged by the Spiritborn.[3]
The Hollows continued to plague the Lingering Hatred region of Nahantu.[1]
In-game
Hollows are primarily found in Nahantu. They can also be spawned by Realmwalkers in Hatred Rising events.
