Teganze is a vast[1] region of Nahantu, and home of the Umbaru.[2]
Lore
Teganze has an upper and lower region.[3] It consists of barren desert,[4] though was apparently more verdant before the coming of the Bloodied Wolf.[5]
History
Teganze was a battlefield during the Mage Clan Wars, where the Umbaru of the upper Teganze came into conflict with the Vizjerei, becoming khazra as part of their effort to drive the mage clan out of the region. Their strategy worked, but it was not without its price. They found themselves bound in servitude to the demon Zagraal in exchange for their cursed power. They became furious marauders, driven to raid villages and caravans to sate their bloodlust and procure sacrificial victims for their demonic master. After years of this terror, their previous brothers, the Umbaru of the lower Teganze sent Witch Doctors to eradicate the khazra's threat to the region. Zagraal was slain, and the khazra were defeated.[3]
Sometime after this, Tengaze was blighted by the Bloodied Wolf, which left disease and corruption in its wake. The Hollows were spread across Nahantu, and the region was reduced to desert. Umbaru refugees were scattered across Sanctuary.[5] The Wolf was defeated by Akarat.[6]
By the late 13th century, the lower Teganze remained inhabited by the Umbaru.[1]
