Azurewrath is an angelic runeblade once wielded by the angel Izual.

Lore

Blessed by the Song of the Arch to be an instrument of the righteous,^[1] Azurewrath was wielded by Izual. He utilized it in the Fifth Battle of the Diamond Gates,^[2] and to best knowledge, during his failed assault on the Hellforge.^[3] While Izual was corrupted by Hell, Azurewrath was spared the corruption that consumed its master.^[4]

• In a cut quest for Diablo prior to release, related to Izual, asking Griswold about Azurewrath would reveal holy blade was forged by Angelic Weaponsmith Cinanide, and tempered with the fires of judgement. This information was never confirmed, as Griswold's lines are absent in the final game (but still present in the game's data files).
