Huihyeon

Ki Hui Hyeon (기희현) is a South Krean singer and rapper under MBK Entertainment. Better known as Huihyeon (Hangul:희현) (formerly as Cathy (캐시))

Career

Early Life

Huihyeon was born on June 16, 1995 in Namwaon, North Jeolla, South Korea. She was a former trainee under Woollim Entertainment and trained with the members of Lovelyz before debuting. ^[1]

Debut with DIA

On June 29, 2015 it was announced MBK was debuting a new group after T-ARA. MBK Soon revealed the members and the group name. Huihyeon debuted with the studio album Do It Amazing and the single Somehow (왠지).

Huihyeon had debuted under the stage name Cathy as the main rapper of the group. As of Dec 2015 MBK announced that members Chaeyeon and Cathy would be withdrawing from the DIA's promotions to go onto MNET's Produce 101. Her and Chaeyeon signed contracts for the show a week before debuting with the group. Huihyeon nearly debuted with the group ranking 19th and Chaeyeon did, ranking 7th. On May 11, 2016 it was confirmed by MBK that Chaeyeon and Huihyeon would be rejoining activites for DIA. She had changed her name from Cathy to her real name, Huihyeon since joining the group.

2017-2019

On August 17, 2015 it was announced that Huihyeon would be collaborating with Produce 101 and I.O.I members Jeon So-mi and Choi Yoo-jung for the digital single Flower, Wind and You. She became the leader of the group after the mini album Spell was released. In 2016 Huihyeon was also a contestant on Season 3 of Unpretty Rapstar as a contestnat.

Early Jan 2017 it was announced that Chaeyeon and Huihyeon would be selected as soecal guests on the variety show "Beauty View". It would air on Jan 19, 2017.^[2]

It was announced that DIA would split up into sub-units for the upcoming digital singles Miracle DIAID Ⅰ and Miracle DIAID Ⅱ. The first sub-unit was BCHCS consisting of Yebin, Chaeyeon, Huihyeon, Eunice and Somyi. They debuted in their first song together You Are the Moon and Earth. Later they released their own special songs in the Love Generation album. ^[3]

In Sept 2019, Huihyeon participated on the vocal show V-1. Members Jooeun, Eunchae and Huihyeon participated on the show. Out of the contestants Huihyeon did not make it into th etop 12.
