Inui Hajime

Inui HajimeStatusBiographyRelationshipsMedia

Inui Hajime (乾初 ()), the Marionette, was a member of the Bravers, who followed Murakami Junpei and defected to the Eighth Guidance.[1] In Lambda, he was reborn as Hajime Inui (ハジメ・イヌイ ()), where he served as Fitun's champion, or rather Hajime Fitun as Fitun's puppet.[?]

Appearance

In Lambda, Inui has a thin, lean body and wild-looking hair that stood on end, his face itself looked somehow insubstantial. He resembled a dark-natured boy that was undergoing training to become a warrior.[?]

Personality

On Earth, Inui was a boy with a weak presence, though not as much as Amamiya Hiroto, who had a strong desire to be noticed by others. On Origin, he began gaining confidence in himself due to his newfound abilities, though this small flame was soon snuffed when he was forced to join the Bravers. There he felt himself buried in the shadow of the other talented reincarnators, and thus began to depend on Marionette even more.[1]

He still lacks confidence in himself, but after growing dependent on his abilities, he began acting like a foolish comic book villain. He had been a dangerous person in terms of personality; He often got carried away, couldn't resist his desires and was hot-tempered as well. Many deemed him as a person who was not trustworthy at all.[?]

Since his time on Earth, Inui was often anxious that no members of the opposite sex would ever pay him any attention unless he established superiority over them.[1] After his experiences with death, at the hands of Isis[2][3] and Kanako, he has developed gynophobia.[1]

Background

On Earth, Inui was a pupil in Murakami's class. Upon dying, he met Rodcorte alongside his classmates, by whom he was granted a fortune and the special ability Marionette. On Origin, he tried to use his newfound talents to build his confidence for a time, resulting in a number of small crimes. His efforts were soon halted by the formation of the Bravers, an organization he was forced to join.[1]

After joining the Bravers, he participated in the extermination of Test Subject D-01. Faced with the other talented reincarnators, he lost confidence once again. He began to depend even more on Marionette, and his petty crimes continued.[1] Using Marionette, he specialized in covert operations, and was only as powerful as the Gungnir Kanata and other similar reincarnated individuals.[4]

Main article: Inui Hajime/Status

Due to Marionette, Inui was more proficient at covert operations, rather than hand-to-hand combat or firefights, since he was only as powerful as the Gungnir Kanata and other similar reincarnated individuals.[4]

Through Fitun's instructions, Hajime grew to the strength of an A-class adventurer, but attained only powers suited for battle-junkies who would leap onto the frontlines of battle using Swordsmanship and Wind-Attribute Magic.[4]

Upon being reincarnated on Lambda, Rodcorte gifted him the Assignable Active Skill, which he spent on Chant Revocation. "However, in order to acquire Rapid Healing and other Skills that are ordinarily difficult for humans to acquire, Hajime has undergone training that scraped away at his very life, so his lifespan was shortened even before he used God Transformation."[4]

Since Fitun only spent two short years to train him, Hajime suffers from irregular Attribute Values and imbalances in his skills. Such as never learning No-Attribute Magic, only awakening a single superior combat-related skill, and all his superior Skills remaining at a low level. Futhermore, since Fitun directly provided Hajime with mana and took care of the thinking, Hajime's mana and intelligence were low.[4]

Once his body was fully taken over, his Mental Corruption reached Level 10. "In a way, one could think of it as Hajime having acquired the Mana of a god and his help in making decisions, but… in reality, his body and soul have been taken over to an even greater extent than in the case of Gordon Bobby." "As a result of Fitun's strengthening, Hajime was driven to insanity and became useless on his own, but reached a sufficient quality for Fitun to use and wield the power that he possessed when he was a mortal. (Hajime's low Skill Levels are essentially being compensated for by Fitun's experience in combat.)"[4]

Trivia

  • After reincarnating into Lambda, the way Hajime's name is written was changed from kanji to katakana, changing the name order to first name, surname order; i.e Inui Hajime to Hajime Inui.[?]
