Flark (フラーク) is one of Riley's criminal slaves who's a shield-bearer.[1]
Appearance
At first glance, he looks more decent than Riley's two other criminal slaves.[2] He wears plate armor and a helmet made of black steel harder and heavier than iron, holding a shield larger than the smaller man. He wears a slave collar, which prevents him from speaking.[1]
Personality
When he first appeared, his collar was set to mute.[1] After becoming a zombie, he became more cheerful and talkative.[3]
Background
Flark was born in a family of farmers[4] in the Amid Empire, presumably the Mirg Shield-Nation.[3]
As an adult he became the leader of a mercenary band that earned their living as bandits during times of peace. He had personally killed more people than Gennie and Messara.[2]
He has knowledge about the Mercenaries' Guild and upon being resurrected as an undead, he began working in the fields where tomatoes were turning into monster plants one after another.[3]
Chronology
Riley wanted companions who were competent and would obey him and came up with the idea of using criminal slaves. He bought Flark and other ferocious criminals from a slave shop and took them on the Second Talosheim Expedition.[2]
Riley's party was wiped out by Borkus. Flark was secured as a zombie by Vandalieu and went on to work in Talosheim, using the knowledge he had gained before his death.[5][3]
After he was killed, he became a competent and bizarre farmer, singing and dancing and tending to the crops that had been turned into monster plants.[6]
Later, while looking around the Immortal Ent forest, he discovered that a Dungeon had been formed by mana that Vandalieu had scattered in the past to nurture the forest.[1][6][7]
