The protector is a special infected that can take a major fraction of damage (which becomes converted into piercing damage) from infecteds who were hurt near him. Also, if the player attacks an infected near him, then he will do a ramming attack that pushes away and stuns for a short time.
Has increased chance to drop guns (magnum, semi-automatic pistol, silenced gun, and tiny revolver) and electrical nightstick when killed while supercharged.
Boss
The boss version of this infected can summon minions and protect them from damage. It can be found on Highway 99.
Boss spawn locations:
- In the laundry room on the west side of the prison.
- Boiler Special SP
- Roadblock SP
- Death Row SP
- Warehouse SP
- Prison large construction room
- Southeast of the diner, across both highway lanes where you can find nests, and in the center part of the surrounding cars. (location)
