Oh. Oh, my pack. These not-furs. Such strange dogs. And yet at their lowest. At their darkest. Still the love.

Synopsis for "As The Universe"

On the Moon, Jai perceives a "shadow in time" in the crater before them. With Foxy's help he is able to "twist the echoes" and generate an energy construct of the ancient figures who once stood there, including Eclipso and the Spectre.

In Skartaris, Eclipso explains to a blissed-out Flash that the Quintessence hired him to keep the Spectre away from Dakrseid and hide him on the Moon in the underground chamber that Jai and Foxy teleported to. When Darkseid found them and destroyed Eclipso's body, he was sucked into ancient Atlantean machines on the moon rather than be imprisoned in the Heart of Darkness again. The machines spart him out on Skyra-shaam, where he took control of Warlord and plotted revenge on Darkseid, only to learn that he was dead. He casually admits that he had a breakdown at that point. Meanwhile on the surface the other Wally West is unable to control his rage and starts smashing things around him. Nightwing quietly whispers to Black Canary to put him down and simultaneously Inspector Pilgrim and Doctor Occult each try to draw the anger out of him with their own methods, but Wally pushes all three of them into the sea. On the Moon Jai tries to teleport to Earth, but finds that something is keeping him there. The energy constructs in the crater disappear and are replaced with a spectral copy of the machine on Skyra-shaam.

Eclipso tells Wally that he initially used the machines and their transformational powers to wreak destruction and try to vent his anger at Darkseid, but then realised he could use it to transform those negative emotions themselves. At first he was going to use them to create power for himself and seize Darkseid's vacant throne, but quickly decided to turn his rage into happiness. He used the machines to turn Warlord's court into a non-stop pleasure party for himself and Skartaris' elite, and dumped the residual anger onto the rest of his subjects, who are now constantly warring and trying to impress him to earn a spot themselves. Eventually the people of Skartaris weren't enough and so he started venting the excess rage onto the surface via the seven-pointed star, an old Atlantean communications network.

On the surface Linda tries to calm the other Wally down, but he screams that all he wants is targets and begins running around attacking everyone except her and their children. Nightwing sends out a "Vermillion Protocol" alert to the Justice League.

On the Moon, Jai draws some energy from the spectral machine and shapes it into a ball. He says he will throw it to his father and chucks it through a vortex at the centre of the construct. Foxy happily chases after it and Jai follows, believing the cosmic dog will be able to break through any barrier in their way.

On Skyra-shaam Eclipso explains that, although he can vent anger to the surface, the hatred he draws from himself is just building up. He brought in the Weather Wizard hoping he could siphon off the hatred and then dissipate it, but he just accumulated it into the storm they saw earlier. He then remembered that Jim Corrigan had told him there was a new power coming and, when he went looking for it, he found that its energy signature matched Wally's. He drew him to Skartaris, hoping that he could somehow channel and get ride of the negative energy, but since Wally hasn't used his powers since they arrived he now thinks he was wrong and that he isn't the new power that shakes the world after all. Wally asks if he can just go and chill if Eclipso doesn't need him, but Eclipso apologises and says that he promised Y'hil a fight to the death. She leaps in and attacks Wally as Eclipso strolls out.

Trivia

  • This issue reveals that the underground chamber on the Moon that Jai West and Foxy teleported into in the previous issue is the cell where Eclipso was holding the Spectre, and the crater on the surface was caused by a solar flare summoned by Darkseid as seen in DC All In Special #1.
