Synopsis for "As Without"

The Wests hike towards the gap in the cloud, while the lizard girl from earlier trails them. As they go, Linda says that they should try to enjoy the otherworldly events around them, likening them to a tabletop RPG which Irey and Jai play. She jokes that if this were a game Wally would be a Barbarian. They enter a clearing in the forest and find the Weather Wizard standing over the corpses of multiple dinosaurs and their riders. Weather Wizard challenges the Flash to a fight and begins ranting like a villain from a bad fantasy novel, mentioning a "seven pointed star of the Old Ones". Linda tells him that the world is responding to their ideas and putting them in narratives; she suggests that instead of fighting they talk things out and share their own stories, but mid-sentence suddenly realises that she's acting like a Bard. Wally charges at Weather Wizard in a Barbarian Rage and the Wizard summons up a whirlwind around them and Linda, leaving the twins and Foxy outside.

Irey tries to break through the whirlwind but Jai says this is their best chance to talk and sits down. After a moment Irey sits next to him and they begin to discuss the recent changes to their powers. Irey tells Jai that she can now see the "glow" of a being's life and can see their "story" stretching through time into the past and future; and can copy the "glow" to become like other people for a variety of purposes. She also notes that Jai has also changed recently, his anxiety is gone and he has taken on a mystical attitude. Irey admits that she has missed talking to him while they have grown apart recently and they hug.

Inside the maelstrom, the Wizard is becoming more verbose, ranting about magic. Flash points out that he isn't actually a wizard and his powers come from science; but the Wizard, his eyes glowing green, declares that in Skartaris science is magic. He blasts Flash with a wind and Wally's eyes also begin glowing green. He charges at the Wizard again and they brawl on the ground.

Outside the storm, Jai tells Irey that he believes Foxy is the "baby" that the Deep Change had recently. Irey says that's impossible, as Wally has had Foxy since before they were born, and her new powers to see through time confirm this, as she can see visions of Foxy being present for every significant event in Wally's life from becoming Kid Flash onwards. However, Jai points out that an omnipotent cosmic being shouldn't have any problems altering people's memories; and theorises that the Deep Change saw their family as the perfect caretakers for their child.

The twins both pet Foxy and he happily releases a burst of Speed Force energy that flies through the storm and hits Wally, breaking him of whatever mind control he was under; however Weather Wizard blasts him with lightning and he reverts back. He attacks Weather Wizard again, breaking his staff. Meanwhile, Irey plays fetch with Foxy using a ball that looks like the Earth; when she looks at the ball she remembers what Weather Wizard said about the "seven pointed star" and suddenly figures out what's going on with the wave of hate on the surface. She tells Jai they need to get to the surface right away, and will need to take Foxy as they're more than a mile from the tunnel. Jai says they can't leave Wally without is powers or leave the infant cosmos unsupervised. Irey instead copies his energy signature, allowing her to mimic his quantum teleportation, and tries to teleport to the other Wally on the Watchtower. Jai warns her that the teleportation is too complicated to use without training but she disappears before he can stop her.

The Weather Wizard and Wally try to choke each other to death, each declaring that they must embrace rage so that only the mighty remain to experience joy. Linda cracks the Weather Wizard over the head with a piece of his staff, knocking him out and again snapping Wally out of his trance. Meanwhile Irey's attempted teleportation goes awry and she almost falls out of existence itself, but Jai follows her in and saves her. He takes her to the nearest conduit, which is the other Wally on the Watchtower; who Jai instantly recognises a temporal duplicate and calmly accepts it, despite Irey expecting him to be mad that Wally kept it a secret from them. Jai, who doesn't understand the time differential between Earth and Skartaris tells Irey he's heading back to check on Foxy and will come to pick her up in an hour, teleporting away before Irey can tell him that would mean ages for her.

Jai encounters interference as he tries to reach Skartaris, preventing him from rematerialising but allowing him to see what is happening. He sees Linda scolding Wally and the Weather Wizard, telling them they need to talk rather than fight; and the Wizard pick up a fragment of his staff to stab Wally with. Before he can, Warlord runs in and blasts Weather Wizard with a magic crossbow. As soon as the Wizard is down, the magic storm drops and Jai appears on Skartaris. The storm falling reveals a squad of dinosaur riders who Warlord brought along and the lizard girl, revealed to be one of Warlord's soldiers named "Captain Y'hil", emerges from the undergrowth.

Warlord thanks the Flash for helping defeat the Weather Wizard and tells Jai that he knows everything around them feels weird. He reassures Jai that he is from the surface too and there is nothing special about him, but Jai's senses allow him to see tendrils of darkness flowing out of Warlord's eyepatch.
