This is Adam Strange. I need to report a missing planet. The Earth. Terra. E-A-R...
Superman (Volume 5) #4 is an issue of the series Superman (Volume 5) with a cover date of December, 2018. It was published on October 10, 2018.
Synopsis for "The Unity Saga, Pt 4"
The battle for Earth begins. Superman is forced to fight Rogol Zaar's invading army so that his friends can have enough time to come up with a plan that can pull the Earth back from the Phantom Zone. Rogol's new soldiers, including Jax-Ur, keep the Man of Steel distracted, giving Rogol enough time to punch Superman all the way to the Earth's surface.
As he gets attacked from all sides, Superman's mind drifts elsewhere, to a time where he saw his Superboy smash cars in a junkyard in a fit of frustration after seeing the media badmouth him and his father. Superboy thought that he and Superman should teach them a lesson about respect but Superman gently dissuades him and says that superheroes are supposed to inspire people with their actions, not terrorize them. Superman admits Batman sometimes frustrates him but he is always reminded that Batman is a reliable friend and capable person in his own right. Superman tells Superboy to have faith people, if not for their actions in the present, then at least for what they can do tomorrow.
As the memory ends, Superman crash-lands into Metropolis, only to get ambushed by Rogol and Jax-Ur again. As he fends his enemies off, Superman attempts to call Martian Manhunter, who has just reestablished his telepathic channel with the rest of the Justice League. According to Martian Manhunter, Ray Palmer has reached S.T.A.R. Labs and is working on a plan to get the Earth out of the Phantom Zone. Superman punches Rogol to the other side of the city and corners Jax-Ur, asking him about his association with Rogol. In his own twisted way, Jax-Ur truly cared about Krypton, while Rogol claims to have destroyed Krypton and Superman warns Jax-Ur that Rogol will turn against him the moment he gets what he wants. Jax-Ur claims Superman is lying but Superman denies this and flies away, leaving Jax-Ur alone and wondering what to do next.
Superman communicates with Ray, who has developed a plan to pull the Earth out of the Phantom Zone, but it requires assistance from the weakened Flash, who is still willing to help. Rogol ambushes Superman again and the two fighters continue their battle across Metropolis. Ray and Flash attempt to explain their plan, but Superman already understands: Ray will miniaturize the entire Earth while Flash will use the Phantom Zone projector from the Fortress of Solitude to return it to the Solar System. For their plan to work, though, Superman needs to gain the attention of every Phantom Zone criminal currently invading Earth, so that none of them leave the Phantom Zone. With only a few seconds to spare, Superman gathers every Phantom Zone criminal in a single spot and flies around them, creating a huge tornado that pulls them out of the Earth and into the depths of the Phantom Zone, with only Rogol left to confront Superman alone. Ray begins to miniaturize the Earth, while Flash activates the Phantom Zone projector.
The plan works and Earth vanishes from the Phantom Zone, leaving Superman and Rogol alone in the void. Although he is trapped in the Phantom Zone with Rogol, Superman takes comfort on the fact that Earth and its people are back in their rightful place.
Back in the Solar System, however, Adam Strange still hovers alone, with no Earth in sight. With no other options, he opens his communication device and attempts to report a missing planet.
