Corinthian

The Corinthian is a nightmare created by Morpheus as a "black mirror" to the darkness in humanity that they couldn't confront themselves, in the hopes that by showing their capacity to evil that they might learn and grow from it. However, the Corinthian went rogue and escaped from the Dreaming to the waking world, becoming a serial killer with a penchant for stealing eyes of young men before influencing enough mortals into becoming sadistic murderers that they established a cult worshiping him as a celebrity called the "Collectors".

The Corinthian was created by Neil Gaiman and Mike Dringenberg, first appearing in Sandman (Volume 2) #10 (1989).
