In Bolia, for the second time in their careers, the Blackhawks temporarily acted as the cabinet of a small nation.

History

By 1953, the Communist Party had deeply infiltrated the democratic government of Bolia, with Comrade Kaldek acting as Secretary of War. Kaldek also was secretly the masked leader of a Red gang called the Assassin Squad, which systematically wiped out the nation's president's cabinet. Kaldek then faked his own death, just after the Blackhawks became involved. President Vallin responded with a surprise move; he appointed the Blackhawks as his new cabinet, and Blackhawk as Vice President.

That very night, the Assassin Squad kidnapped President Vallin, leaving Blackhawk in Charge of Bolia's government. He and his team again engaged the Assassin Squad, and rescued President Vallin. Comrade Kaldek lost a fistfight with Blackhawk atop a tall structure, and blundered over a handrail to plunge to his death.

Notes

  • This was actually the second time in their careers that the Blackhawk aviators accepted the roles of Cabinet Ministers, in a small nation. In a 1951 story, they became the President and Cabinet of Fusang.
