Synopsis for "Assassin of the Sea, Part Four"
On the coast of Ethiopia, Black Manta and Gallous wait for the woman with the Orichalcum necklace to regain consciousness. When she does, she burns away the chains the two bound her in and she and Manta almost come to blows, but Gallous intervenes and tells her that they have a common purpose, as her necklace is also causing her great pain. The woman agrees to help and, as she does not remember her own name, Gallous names her Torrid. Manta tells Torrid that they are planning to find the lost tribe of Atlantis' technology, and Torrid remembers that she long ago once knew an immortal wizard who ruled the land and may know what became of the Atlanteans. The group decide to ask the wizard what he knows, but Manta expects they will have to force him to help them.
In Atlantis, Aquaman goes to the hopsital where the poisoned council members are recovering. Doctor Thnita tells him that they are all expected to make a full recovery but Murk warns him that Devil Ray said that the council would only be the beginning. Aquaman realises that the attack on the council was merely a test and Devil Ray will likely now refine his poison for an attack on the general population. He tells Thnita to put every infirmary in the city on emergency standby and orders the Drift to search the city for hidden chemical weapons.
At Devil Ray's hideout; he, Red and Orange attempt to forge an Orichalcum trident, but when Devil Ray tries to melt the Orichalcum down, Red and Orange suddenly die, spewing blood from every orifice. After a moment's grief, Devil Ray asks his computer what happened and it replies that when he heated the Orichalcum it suddenly became intensely radioactive. Devil Ray deduces that only people with Deserter ancestry can safely forge the Orichalcum and orders the computer to locate Black Manta.
Back in Ethiopia, Black Manta and his allies try to sneak into the wizard's headquarters, but they trip a magical warning system and the wizard, Doctor Mist, appears. He recognises Black Manta and knew he would come, and reveals that Black Manta is indeed a descendant of the Deserters, the lost tribe of Atlantis. He attacks them and reveals that he also recognises Torrid, but claims she has changed from the days they knew each other. Black Manta eventually brings Doctor Mist down with a powerful taser and tells him to answer their questions.
