Release [[Update:{{{release}}}|{{{release}}}]]

The bride is a passive (not really) entity only encountered in the Wedding event. There is one in the main hall, and multiple more are located in an area of the woods accessible through a window. The brides will not appear unless the player picks up an invitation to the wedding from the Dry Meadow Hideout.

The Protagonist can easily kill brides with one strike from any weapon, or by setting traps in the path of their dancing. Striking them uses up weapon durability (especially with early game weaponry like the Board With Nails or Torch), and the brides will not drop anything upon death, so there is little benefit to killing them.

The brides dance back and forth, spinning as they do so, unlike most other NPCs that either stand still, flee, or charge the player. The brides outside will call out asking to be danced with, though the one indoors remains silent.

If the bride is killed, the brides (or their dead bodies, if they've been killed) will disappear.

Trivia

  • Unlike other creatures, their corpses are called "Corpse bride". For example, a Rabbit's corpse is called "Dead rabbit", a Dog's corpse is called "Dead dog". This is most likely a reference to a Tim Burton movie of the same name.
  • The Red Chomper that wears a wedding dress whose corpse is also called "Corpse bride".

Bugs

  • In PC version 1.3, the chomper vanishes into thin air upon the killing blow. This has been fixed in Darkwood 1.4 public testing.
