Ballast Trucks (known on the Arlesdale Railway as Hopper Wagons) are used on the Chipperton and Swahilli Railway for transporting ballast from the Conifton Ballest Co.. They seem to come from the Island of Sodor since they have the word Arlesdale on them.
Technical Details
Basis
The hoppers are based on those of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, who offered insight to their design to the Arlesdale Railway. Their design is different in both The Railway Series and Thomas & Friends; the trucks in the books are metal and are closer to their real-life counterparts, while the television series trucks are slightly shorter, made of wood and are fitted with buffers and chain couplings.
Livery
The hoppers are painted brown with "ARLESDALE" painted on both sides in white.
