Cookies, being the most prominent species in Earthbread, have become the main driving force in its history. They are nearly indistinguishable from humans aside from their simplified makeup and appearance. Cookies were initially baked by the Witches as a dessert, but they have started being given sentience and other purpose by their makers thanks to the Life Powder that's mixed with their dough. This art of baking have been passed to some Cookies and they have used it to bake their own offspring.
However, many other Cookies was born through other means and in various shapes, and that has made the Cookie species, as a whole, more diverse.

Anatomy

Cookie bodies are flat, but still wide enough to contain a set of skeleton and blood. No matter the flavour of each Cookie, their dough will always contain Strawberry Jam which serves as their blood. It is unclear what Cookie bones are made out of but it's most likely consisted of hardened sugar or calcium. The inner workings of their body is quite mysterious as the Life Powder mixed in them does all of the work.
Cookie facial features tend to be made out of icing, such as their eyecing, mouth, and facial hair (if they have some). Cookies have noses but they are not too visible and are probably just breathing through their pores, same goes for their ears[2] that they claim to have[3]. The ingredients that make up their hairs tend to vary for each Cookie as they tend to be made from their main ingredient, but most Cookies can be seen having hair made out of cream and icing, and even so, the type of cream used can vary based on each Cookie's main ingredient.
Their limbs tend to have a mitten-like shape but the length and width of each limb differs per Cookie. Cookie hands seems to have fingers that they rarely show, as they do not require it to hold their items. Cookie dough are lightly coated with sugar that makes them look smooth and shiny, as long as it's properly taken care of[4]. This coating helps protect them from minor injuries, but is not thick enough to protect their dough from prolonged exposure to liquids. As a Cookie grows up, their exterior becomes tougher and crunchier, though certain ingredients in their dough can also factor in the toughness of their body.

Biology

Cookies and liquids
Similar to humans, Cookies secrete sweat and other liquids from their bodies, but they vary for each Cookie depending on their ingredients, though they typically contain some sugar[5]. All the activities they do will eventually make their dough dirty, which means they need to take baths. However, Cookies get soggy when dipping themselves in liquid, therefore every liquid that will be used for baths have to be treated before use, or Cookies should have a special oil ready to coat themselves with. This rule doesn't apply to sea-faring Cookies who are baked to survive in the seas, and therefore will never get soggy.
Cookies also can't just dip themselves in any liquid they see, as their sweats might cause unwanted reaction to the liquids[6]. While they can just use treated water for showers, other liquids can provide extra benefits to their bodies compared to just using water. Every Cookie has different needs depending on what they're made of.
Some parts of Earthbread have been known to produce hot springs that are safe for Cookies even without any treatment done to it, or without the use of any coating before soaking themselves in. One example of such places is the Latte Hot Springs in Dessert Paradise.
Temperatures

A suitable amount of heat can give Cookies a healthier and crispier dough, it also helps release stress. Excessive heat does cause negative effects on them, such as dizziness. Excessive heat akin to a regular oven have the potential to kill them, which is how the Witch bakes Cookies to be eaten. While Cookies that are baked for food aren't sentient, those who were baked with Life Powder are unfortunately subjected to feel the blazing heat of the oven.
Cookies who were baked with spicy ingredients such as pepper can naturally endure heat better than other Cookies, this endurance can also be built by living near any spicy or hot environment[7] such as the Dragon's Valley, or by keeping the body tough and crunchy. This rule applies to cold temperatures as well. Naturally, younger Cookies have lower tolerance to extreme temperatures as they have softer exterior.
Consumables
Jellies are the staple food for all Cookies. Excluding the bear jellies, the shape of jellybeans can vary according to its flavours, sometimes it follows the shape of the original food flavours they mimic. While Cookies tend to love sweets more compared to other food, they do need variety in their diet to keep it balanced by adding vegetables and savory food to their diet. Even as a living dessert, Cookies still need to pay attention to their sugar levels.
Most Cookies tend to have the food, or drinks they were baked with as their favorite item to consume. A notable example of this is Cocoa Cookie who appears to love her cocoa drinks excessively. However, this trait will quickly become unhealthy when left unsuppressed.
Reproduction Methods
Baked by Witches
- Choose a concept and name for the Cookie.
- Use regular cookie dough as a base for the Cookie in question, with additional ingredients to create your desired outcome. * Regular dough ingredients: Sugar + Butter + Moonlight + Whispers
- Once the dough is no longer sticky and ready to shape, add a dash of Life Powder.
- Bake at a desired temperature in a pre-heated oven.
Witches plays a big part in Earthbread's history, as one of the first humans that managed to harness the essence of Life that flows through natural systems, allowing them to create sentient Cookies.
Baked by Wizards
- Formulate the required number of ingredients needed beforehand
- Measure your pre-acquired ingredients with utmost precision and stir everything in a small bowl.
- Form a magic circle with a team of experienced Wizards and place the dough in the center. Once all preparations are set, begin your incantation in unison. *Caution: Harnessing the power of Sunlight is forbidden as it can cause detrimental spoilage to the dough. Harness Moonlight only.
- Present your Cookie with a directive and a purpose!
*Note: All directives for Cookies must include the conscious decision to respect knowledge and wisdom.
Wizards tend to bake Cookies according to their needs, and instead of imbuing the dough with Life Powder, they harnessed Moonlight. Cookies are immediately given purpose upon birth, and will be trained by the assigned Wizard, and get put to work to help them.
Parent Cookie
It is known that some Cookies bake Cookies of their own without the influence of Witches or Wizards, though how and when are details largely unexplained. One theorem posits that singular Cookies can create offspring by contributing pieces of their own dough:
Cookies of time beyond memory used to mix little specks of their own dough with Life Powder and bake it in special ovens enchanted with a spell of Life. Rarely, very rarely, the powers of Life would spring forth, giving birth to baby Cookies. The Witches, fearful of the Cookies being able to control Life Magic, took away the ovens. They forbade such creation of Life and only allowed children to those who remained their faithful subjects...

Nonetheless, it is unclear whether this method is something truly done or simply a tall tale. What is clear is that Cookies are able to produce offspring through one way or another, as exemplified by the many parent-child relationships throughout the series.
But whether it was done or not, this excerpt implies that Cookies reproduce asexually, and doesn't require a second parent figure to make their offspring. However, Cookies, being a social species similar as their human creators, do pursue romance with one another, and might want to start a family together. While most Cookies shown to have familial bond are only shown with one parent, some do have 2 parental figures such as Langue de Chat Cookie. The method remains the same, except the dough might have 2 sets of Cookie DNA/crumbs in it, with each crumb coming from each parent.
No, they do not get pregnant, they're too flat for that, their body will crack if they do. But of course, if you insist, you can always visit the beautiful and exciting world of fan fiction. Take note that doing so will be at your own risk, and Cookie Run Wiki accepts no liability for any psychological trauma incurred.
Non-Baking methods
Lab-made Cookie

Cookies that are born in a cold lab instead of a hot oven. They tend to be the result from some experiments done by either humans or fellow Cookies. Notable examples of this method of "baking" are Lemon Cookie and
Ion Cookie Robot.
Imbued by nature
Sometimes Life finds its way to create things on its own (or with the Sugar Swan's help). They don't necessarily need a batch of dough to make their bodies/vessel, as they can infuse themselves with elements of nature and create a Cookie body out of them, however they're not fully opposed to infuse themselves with an already available dough laying around. Notable examples of this method are
Wind Archer Cookie and
Cookiemals.
Life Cycle
Birth

Most Cookies started their life journey from an Oven, as a batch of dough. The one thing that makes these sentient Cookies different from your regular Cookie is the presence of Life Powder imbued in their dough, which new batches can procure through various methods preferred by their creator. Just like how humans normally bake desserts, Cookies can be born alone or in a group, as a batch of dough can be used to bake multiple Cookies at once, notable example of this is GingerBrave and
GingerBright who are born from the same batch. However, being batchmates doesn't automatically makes a Cookie have a relation, or any family bond to their batchmates unless it was specified by their baker.
GingerBright herself was baked with the intention of giving
GingerBrave a friend, and sometimes even treated as his love interest.
Upon birth, some Cookies are given purpose for their existence by their human creators, mostly to work for them. As not all Cookies start their life from infancy, they are instilled with a certain mental age that defines how old and how they behave, and they master basic life skills such as walking and speaking. GingerBrave who was freshly-baked as a child/preteen was immediately able to speak, walk, and run from his creator.
Lifespan
Cookies age through an extremely prolonged process of freshness and staleness: young Cookies are considered to be fresh and soft, while older Cookies have grown stale and hard. Those of good health and spry bodies are referred to as “crispy.”
Younger Cookies tend to have a softer exterior. As a Cookie grows up, their dough becomes tougher and crunchier. There are some exceptions though! Certain ingredients in a Cookie’s dough can decide just how soft or crispy they’ll be. As long as Cookies don’t become too soggy, their dough can stay fresh and healthy for a very, very long time.
It can be assumed that mortal Cookies can live for roughly the same amount of time as humans, however some Cookies didn't start their life from infancy and it is unclear whether Cookies born as infants and Cookies born not as infants have different age scales. Those who aren't baked as infants are instilled with a certain mental age upon birth that defines their age, and will behave accordingly.

Like humans, Cookie ages do affect the maturity and capabilities of Cookies and how they are treated in society. There are distinct splits between different age brackets just as there are with humans: Cookies can be considered infants, children, young adults, older adults, and elderly all the same based on how old they are and what mental age with which they were born. Younger Cookies often attend school and are cared for by older Cookies, older Cookies fill work archetypes, and elderly Cookies may end up retiring.
Some outside sources can prolong or halt a Cookie’s aging process indefinitely, though this effect tends to apply to only very special, powerful individuals. Examples include Legendary Cookies whose duties are too important to allow them to die, and the Dragon Cookies whose arcane power allows them to live for eons as a species. These Cookies, too, tend to have a mental age that almost always being presented as mature adults.
Death and the Afterlife
Though the Cookies were created through magic which we’ll never truly understand, Cookies can still get hurt and injured. When humans fall and scrape their knee, a bit of blood can form. Instead of blood, Cookie injuries can result in bits of strawberry jam dripping from the wound. Always be careful and extra gentle when meeting a Cookie! A Cookie can become critically injured if they crumble too much!

The word "Crumbling" or "Crumble" has become synonymous with Death due to the nature of Cookies' brittle bodies that break easily when injured, though Cookies don't always die this way. Age progression comes with its issues such as mobility-related problems[8] which increases the likelihood of a Cookie’s body failing them.
Cookies can be killed in various ways, their leading cause of death is consumption by humans, but as human presence has decreased significantly, and this timeline of Cookie Run being one that's set in a peaceful time without war, most Cookies now died of natural causes. Other deaths that has been shown in-game includes ones caused by magic (petrification[9], etc), murder[10], extinction[11], accidents[12], torture[13], and suicide[14] (allegedly).
However, for a society with rampant use of magic, death does not necessarily mark the end for these sentient Cookies. It is possible for Cookies to be revived or rebirthed when they have the means. Most famous example of this is Fire Spirit Cookie who was rebirthed by the
Red Dragon's powers.
Cookie souls can linger around the mortal plane if they haven't felt at peace with their deaths, notable examples of these includes Onion Cookie who doesn't even know of her death, and
White Ghost Cookie who felt the need to protect her old school from being demolished.
The concept of afterlife for Cookies is quite unclear, so far only Angel Cookie has spoken about Heaven, or the equivalent of it. Meanwhile, the word “Hell” has become synonymous with the Oven, and unlike Angel Cookie,
Devil Cookie never spoke about anything related to the Cookie equivalent of Hell or the underworld, though their Kingdom bio explicitly mentions "the fiery lower trays of existence", heavily implying there is also certainly a Cookie equivalent to Hell. Angel Cookie's Trial seems to take place in a heaven-like location, and is named "Celestial Temple at Dawn", while Devil Cookie's takes place in a hellish location, aptly named "River of Hellfire".
Varieties
Cookies come in a variety of shape and form depending on how they were baked, and their given purpose. They will be split into 2 categories, humanoid and non-humanoid.
Humanoid Cookies
These Cookies have a humanoid body, fit perfectly with the typical shape of a cookie cutter, no matter how and what they are made of.
Regular Cookies

Cookies that are not listed in other categories are considered as regular, ordinary Cookies. These Cookies were baked with organic ingredients that are typically used to bake Cookies, and born with the typical Cookie body shape with no extra body features, just enough for their daily activities. Any extra ability they have either comes from their source ingredient, their occupations, tricks and things they've learned in their lifetime, or modifications they made on their body.
While they were all baked with organic ingredients, not all of them are made with edible ingredients as some of them have been mixed with non-food or poisonous ingredients. Some example of this are Candlelight Cookie who was baked with candle wax, and
Poison Mushroom Cookie who was baked with poisonous mushroom.
This is the most common type of Cookie in Earthbread. They live an ordinary life, and die in an ordinary way.
Nova Cookies

These Cookies were born out of a supernova that occurred to a colossal star candy years ago, then they emerge together as the 4 fragments of the star scatters and each become sugar-substitute planets. Nova Cookies are destined to embody the values pursued by each of their planets and emerge as their leader.

While each Novas do have their differences in biology, they do share some similarities. They consider each other family as they were born from the same star. As their names suggest, none of them contain actual sugar, and instead was baked with alternative sweeteners. So far, Universe Ablaze has revealed Xylitol, Stevia, Allulose, and Aspartame as their sugar substitutes, and each sweeteners have their own characteristics. Each Novas inherited the power of the stars that manifests differently for each of them.
Being a race of Cookies that are born outside Earthbread, all of these Cookies have gotten accustomed to the different condition in outer space, and therefore does not require oxygen to breathe, and compared to other alien lifeforms, Nova Cookies are able to withstand the extreme conditions of space better, but they are not completely immune from them. Appearance wise, they look identical to regular Cookies, some differences can be seen on their face and eyes, with pupils that resemble the shape of a star system, and face markings that stretches from their eyes to the edges of their face.
Non-Organic Cookies

Cookies that are not made with typical organic ingredients you can find in other Cookies, but still identify themselves as Cookies. They can come in a variety of shape, depending on their purpose. Some example of these Cookies are Ion Cookie Robot who was mass-produced by
Aloe Cookie to mimic actual Cookie behavior through its built-in AI,
Cyborg Cookie who was also made by Aloe Cookie to help them recover from an accident, and
Lollipop Cookie who was first made to just be a lifeless cookie-shaped doll, until she gained sentience after
Butterbear Cookie fixed her.
Undead Cookies

Undead Cookies can be divided into 2 groups, pure Cookie Ghosts, and dough-bound Undead Cookies.

Cookie ghosts seems to anchor themselves to the mortal world when they feel like they still have unfinished business,[15] and therefore didn't die peacefully. They are normally invisible to the naked eye, but can reveal themselves to anyone the ghost wants to see. They might be able to control which living desserts get to see them, but they're always visible to other ghosts/spirits. Notable trait of these Cookie ghosts is the lack of moisture in them, because they, quite literally, do not have a body. Cookie ghosts can switch between their old appearance and their new ghastly form, however their ghastly form will become dominant by time, as less and less Cookies remembers them[16], they can grow in size depending on how much fear they absorbed from their target Cookie.[17]
Dough-bound undead Cookies are Cookies baked with odd materials, or through odd circumstances, usually revolving around life and death. Some were baked through revival, some were baked with odd ingredients such as actual zombie cells[18] found in graves, and as usual, Life Powder will make do with whatever ingredients they were fused with and make it work. Not much is known about how these Cookies work as they vary case by case, they are almost never documented either.
Non-Humanoid Cookies
These Cookies barely, or do not fit the typical cookie cutter shape at all. The design of their bodies either have hints of inspirations from the original animal they're based on, or are baked with said animal in their dough. These extra animal features end up sticking out to some degree, which makes their body not fit for the typical cookie cutter design.
Hybrids

A fusion of Cookies and animals. The range of this type of Cookies can span from the more humanoid-looking Cookie that retains some animal features, to a Cookie that looks more like an animal rather than a regular Cookie, such as Cookiemals. This type of Cookies can exist anywhere but they prominently resides in the Dessert Paradise or the sea. These Cookies commonly have extra abilities thanks to their animal features, they can range from heightened sense of smell, flight, or the ability to breathe underwater. Cookies that live underwater have been specifically baked to never get soggy. Other abilities not listed in here will differ based on the animal features each Cookie have.
Cookies in this list will be ordered based on the range of appearance specified above, with the first ones only having their extra features serve as decorational purpose.
Shapeshifters

A step further from the Hybrid Cookies. Other than having animal features, they can also transform into said animal, or into a Cookie form they've adopted. The ability to transform is achieved through either magic or other means that have yet been known, some Cookies or creature are also born with this ability. The range for these Cookies can span from those who were originally born a Cookie and gained the ability to transform into other species, to those who seeked a Cookie form to achieve something they can't do in their original species' form.
Cookies (and their alternative forms) in this list will be ordered based on the range specified above.

Dragon Cookies

They are not real Cookies, but merely just another form of a bigger species, the Dragons. The Earthbread as a whole has been losing energy, and that has led the Dragons to take on a Cookie form to conserve their own energy. They can revert back to their original Dragon form whenever they have ample power left. Some notable features of these Dragon Cookies are their slit pupils in their eyes, their gems, and their ability to fly.
Dragon Cookies (and their real Dragon forms) in this list will be ordered based on their release dates.

Trivia
- Cookies typically name themselves after the main ingredient they're made out of, but some have changed their names to be based on their occupation or their titles.
- Most famous example of this is
Croissant Cookie's alter ego who changed her name to
Timekeeper Cookie.[19]
- Most famous example of this is
- Devsister's Notion site mentioned that Cookies have no need for bones and organs, however they still end up forming a set of skeleton in their dough anyway.[20]
- Just like how eating a Cookie's own ingredient isn't considered cannibalistic, eating Strawberry Jam is not considered that either.[21]
- Ancient Cookies do exist in Cookie Run: OvenBreak[22], but they don't seem to be equipped with a Soul Jam, as none of them are alive at the moment. Whether White Lily Cookie is alive as
Dark Enchantress Cookie or not remains unknown as the game never touched that subject.
