GingerDozer

Holy toast, I'm gonna get eaten! Need to run away!!
— Dozer's quote when starting the prologue.

GingerDozer, originally known as Dozer and nicknamed KK in OvenBreak's internal files, is a Cookie that first appeared in the original OvenBreak and later in Cookie Run: Witch's Castle. He is notable for being the younger brother of GingerBrave.[1]

Description

GingerDozer is a Cookie with a medium-dark tan dough color, with two small dot eyes embedded onto his face. Dozer has a gaping red mouth and running white snot through his nostrils. He wears a light cyan nightcap with teal stars on it with a yellow pompom on its end. The same color of the nightcap being used for the two simple buttons on his chest. Dozer carries a somewhat small candy cane with two shades of green on it.

GingerDozer is a tiresome and lazy Cookie who is easy to frighten and upset. He appears to have a somewhat slow reaction time, as suggested by his appearance in the Story of OvenBreak. Dozer has also been described as being slower than GingerBrave as well as being similar to Wimpy from Popeye by C.S. Moon, the story director for OvenBreak.[2]

GingerDozer's original English name was chosen during a Facebook contest by Amby Godwin, as attributed in the game credits of OvenBreak. The internal name of Dozer, "KK", does not stand for anything; it is an onomatopeia of a giggling sound, according to Sem Han, an artist for OvenBreak and the designer of Dozer.[3]

History

OvenBreak

Dozer first appears in OvenBreak, being introduced on November 11th, 2011 as a part of the Prologue stage introduced in the 2.0 version of the game. He is only playable within said tutorial.

Dozer has no special ability, but is able to survive obstacle collisions and restart close to where the player left off, though this is due to him being in a tutorial. Despite him not being able to take damage in Prologue by default, he only has one heart compared to GingerBrave's 2 hearts; the reason for this is unknown. His victory theme is GingerBrave's victory theme, but pitched down 4 semitones.

Story In the Story of OvenBreak promotional comic, Dozer is seen sleeping on a plate and awakes. He gazes around his surroundings consisting of half eaten bodies of Cookies, and thinks to himself that he is dreaming. Dozer realises the gravity of the situation, and shouts and runs off to escape the fate of being eaten. Dozer later comes across a swirly lollipop known as Whirly Burly[4] and gazes into it, which hypnotizes him and renders him unconscious; dropping and breaking Whirly Burly in the process.

The hand of the Witch's shadow is then cast over Dozer, as she grabs him and carries him. GingerBrave witnesses the event and wishes to escape. The Witch places Dozer on a wooden plank with his arms tied to his body with rope, and pursues him with a tiny stick lit on fire, with Dozer being forced to jump into a cup of milk with the corpses of several of the Witch's past victims floating in it. This event triggers GingerBrave to make his great escape, and he bolts out of the oven. Dozer is not seen again during the story.

In the Christmas stage, Dozer can be seen in the stage background on top of a snowman's top hat.

Despite Dozer making no further appearances in the story, Dozer was going to eventually be rescued by GingerBrave and become a participant in the scrapped Cookie Olympics story.[2]

Cameos

Despite his long absence after his initial debut in OvenBreak, he made a cameo in one of the pictures shown on the official X page for Cookie Run: OvenBreak, for Cookie Run's 10th anniversary. He appeared alongside the 2009, 2011, and OvenBreak 2 incarnations of GingerBrave to celebrate the series' history.

Concept

GingerDozer was created by C.S. Moon and Sem Han, with C.S. Moon creating him as a character for a slower and easier tutorial, not wanting to depict GingerBrave as slow.[2]. Alongside GingerBrave, GingerDozer was going to have an extended family that included Grandpa Nitro, GingerRaven, and GingerGrim; however, these characters were never properly introduced, as the development of OvenBreak was haulted and were haulted.[1]

In an interview from 2011, Sem Han said that they want to see GingerDozer appear in the Cookie Run franchise again in the future.[5]
