"The last time I used the Aqua Grabber at the Iceberg, I saw a crab in the ocean," you say. "I think his name is Klepto."

"I think you're onto something," Rookie says. "Klepto is a notorious thief. He's always trying to steal the Puffle O's in the Puffle Launch game. Let's head to the Iceberg!"

Klepto was a kleptomaniacal crab who appeared in various minigames throughout Club Penguin, most notably as the main antagonist in Puffle Launch.

History

Klepto first appeared in the Soda Seas stage of Aqua Grabber. After luring the mullet away, the player gained access to the area outside Klepto's cave, where a large pile of coins could be found. Klepto would come out of his nearby cave to carry coins inside, a few at a time, and moving faster each trip. The player could choose to quickly take the coins (earning the Crab's Treasure stamp if all were taken), or let Klepto take them. If the player took no coins, then Klepto rewards them with an emerald (earning the Soda Treasure stamp for taking the emerald) which is worth more than the coin pile.

He later appeared as the main antagonist in Puffle Launch, appearing every six levels in an Aqua Grabber 3000 submarine rebuilt to fly and to steal O'Berries. In levels 6, 18, and 30, defeating him is optional, while in levels 12, 24, and 36, he is required to be defeated in order to progress. He had to be defeated in order to receive the Crab Attack, Crab Crash, Crab Battle, and Turbo Battle stamps.

Klepto later appeared as one of the big obstacles in Jetpack Boost, along with Herbert P. Bear and the Ultimate Proto-Bot 10000.

Image Notes
In level 6, he floats over the goal hoop and attempts to grab it. If hit by a puffle, he slowly flies away. After being hit several times, he is defeated.
In level 12, he steals the goal hoop, then flies over to the main part of the level where he flies back and forth over multiple cannons. After being hit several times, he is defeated and releases the goal hoop.
In level 18, he flies through the level, using a magnet to steal O'Berries, which cannot be recovered. After being hit several times, he is defeated.
In level 24, he steals the goal hoop, then flies in a circle around the level. If he is hit, he swings around a giant anvil to defend himself. After being hit several times, he is defeated and releases the goal hoop.
In level 30, he follows the puffle around, using a gravity box to switch gravity, which allows for progress through the level. If the puffle gets close, he quickly flies back and changes the gravity, attempting to make the puffle fall out of the level. After being hit several times, he is defeated, and gravity is no longer changed.
In level 36, he steals the goal hoop, then flies within a barrier of floating boxes with plants. If he is hit, the boxes all fly outward before quickly flying back to him. After being hit several times, his Aqua Grabber ship is destroyed, except for the cockpit, which he flies with to the next part of the level.
After flying away, he lands on the Box Dragon, and takes control of it. He uses it to shoot flaming, exploding boxes at the puffle, which must be used to bounce over and hit him. Every time he is hit, the flaming boxes explode faster. After being hit several times, he is defeated and releases the goal hoop.
