Klepto was a kleptomaniacal crab who appeared in various minigames throughout Club Penguin, most notably as the main antagonist in Puffle Launch.
History
Klepto first appeared in the Soda Seas stage of Aqua Grabber. After luring the mullet away, the player gained access to the area outside Klepto's cave, where a large pile of coins could be found. Klepto would come out of his nearby cave to carry coins inside, a few at a time, and moving faster each trip. The player could choose to quickly take the coins (earning the Crab's Treasure stamp if all were taken), or let Klepto take them. If the player took no coins, then Klepto rewards them with an emerald (earning the Soda Treasure stamp for taking the emerald) which is worth more than the coin pile.
He later appeared as the main antagonist in Puffle Launch, appearing every six levels in an Aqua Grabber 3000 submarine rebuilt to fly and to steal O'Berries. In levels 6, 18, and 30, defeating him is optional, while in levels 12, 24, and 36, he is required to be defeated in order to progress. He had to be defeated in order to receive the Crab Attack, Crab Crash, Crab Battle, and Turbo Battle stamps.
Klepto later appeared as one of the big obstacles in Jetpack Boost, along with Herbert P. Bear and the Ultimate Proto-Bot 10000.
Trivia
- He appeared with his Soda Seas coins on the Aqua Grabber postcard and in issue 186 of the Club Penguin Times.
- In an EPF Phone message from April 11, 2011, Rookie revealed that he translated part of a crab message that said "Keep cutting fishing lines. Keep tapping on glass. Keep taking Puffle'Os."
- Issue 300 of the Club Penguin Times referred to the crab of the Crabs Talk To Crabs game as "the cranky crab". Klepto would also be referred to as the cranky crab.
- He appeared on the March 2011 page in the Yearbook 2010-2011.
- In the real life book, Agent Rookie's Secret Mission, Klepto has coffee cups from the Coffee Shop, empty pizza trays from the Pizza Parlor, colorful seashells, and the ruby from Ruby and the Ruby, kept inside an underwater cave.
- His laugh from Jetpack Boost was reused for Klutzy at the Halloween Party 2015.
- A crab made similar sounds near the Underground Diner during the Summer Splashdown.
- Klepto was not originally planned to be the main antagonist of Puffle Launch. Instead, it was planned to be Scowly the Owl.[1]
- Klepto is referred to in the Aqua Grabber files as "Crabby".

After flying away, he lands on the Box Dragon, and takes control of it. He uses it to shoot flaming, exploding boxes at the puffle, which must be used to bounce over and hit him. Every time he is hit, the flaming boxes explode faster. After being hit several times, he is defeated and releases the goal hoop. |
