Hayden is a resident of Scratch Mountain found wandering by the riverside on the lower portion of the canyon. When greeting him for the first time, he is found pondering about his future. Hayden will state that the protagonist is a rather easy-going lifestyle, but his own lifestyle is of the opposite. He had been wondering what he wants to do for life.

The protagonist tells him about a job that he might be interested in and explains how there is a tire store looking for an employee. Hayden will give this a consideration and head over to check out the job and meet Butch. In return for helping him out, he provides the protagonist with the Ship Meter.

Afterwards, Hayden explains to the protagonist how making tires is fun but Butch is a rather temperamental and strict employer. Occasionally, Hayden would decide to escape the rather stressful situation by going outside to relax. He assumes Butch is the way he is because he is passionate about his job and is putting all his heart in it. Hayden understands his point of view, and thus, wants to continue with this job.

FroKero tasks the protagonist to deliver a frog to Hayden. Hayden will be happy that it is the frog he had ordered and thanks them for delivering it to him. The protagonist is rewarded with a Surfboard from Hayden for making the delivery.
