Ky-Laag was a Demon Lord with the appearance of a gigantic skeletal-like demon with purple flames constituting what appeared to be arms. He had massive curved horns and a set of separable lower jaws making up most of his purple head.[1]
Biography
In Ancient Rome, general Scipio Armilianus called upon Ky-Laag to fight the war against the Blood of Carthage. The Demon Lord expunged the demons from Carthage, but he had no master, so Ky-Laag also threatened the humans. The Blood of Carthage eventually developed the proper magic to trap Ky-Laag and buried him beneath the African sands.[1]
In the 12th century, the Blood of Carthage worried that the Demon Lord would be discovered, so they moved Ky-Laag to the farthest shore of the undiscovered continent, where it would eventually become Sunnydale. Scipio, enslaved, was made a sentinel to watch over the burial site.[1]
In early 2000, Xiu and her twin sister[2] killed any demon that attempted to free Ky-Laag.[3] However, Buffy Summers had a violent encounter with Scipio, and the Slayer killed him.[4] Without a guardian, Ky-Laag manipulated Tergazzi into freeing him in Sunnydale.[5]
The Scooby Gang allied with the Blood of Carthage to bind Ky-Laag again. They fought him with the help of Lucy Hanover Tergazzi, but Ky-Laag killed a passerby and Xiu. The Scoobies managed to perform the ritual and banish Ky-Laag, but the Demon Lord promised to return.[1]
