- "Everything was better back in my day!"
- ―Grandpa
The Grandpa is a 71001 Minifigures Series 10 minifigure released in May 2013.[1]
Description
The Grandpa is based on a general depiction of an elderly man. He wears a tan shirt with a dark red bow tie and dark red suspenders. A curve is printed on the torso to represent a fat belly. His pants are partially printed on the torso to represent the fact that many old men wear their pants unusually high up. His legs are unprinted dark tan. His face shows an old man's grumpy face. He has a new "hair" piece depicting a balding head with a comb-over and a fringe around the back. His accessories are a white mug and a light grey 2x2 tile printed to look like a newspaper, the "Old Times". This tile also shows an old-fashioned car on it.

“Everything was better back in my day!” Grandpa preferred everything the way it was when he was young, and he’ll tell you so every chance he gets. Mention that you liked the old brown LEGO® bricks better than the new ones, and he’ll say that when he was a kid, the only color you could get was red and you were happy to have it. Ever since the first play themes came around, he’s been grumpy about all of those new-fangled pieces like doors, windows, and anything else that isn’t shaped like a brick. And don’t even get him started on today’s Minifigures with their fancy arms and legs and facial expressions! |
