Background
Thomas Blake was a world famous trapper, hunter and trainer of big cats. After squandering his fortune and growing bored of his hunting career, he was driven into a life of crime. Having a hatred for Catwoman, he tried to take up her gimmick during a time when she was absent in the criminal underworld.
Using his skills, trained big-cats, claws, cat-themed weapons, and an ancient African cloth costume he believed gave him nine-lives, Thomas started committing cat-themed crimes. Of course he was defeated by Batman and Catwoman alike on numerous occasions.
After many failures on his own, Catman became a member of Killer Moth's super villain team "The Misfits" which included Calendar Man and the Chancer. Thomas was later recruited by Lex Luthor and Deathstroke to join the secret society of super-villains but refused their offer. Upset that such a nobody villain rebuked them, the Secret Society killed Thomas's pride of lions which resulted in Thomas joining the antihero team of the Secret Six alongside: Scandal Savage, Rag Doll, Deadshot, Cheshire and a Parademon. Here Catman became close with Deadshot and the team eventually rebranded as a mercenary company.
