The Road to the Wizard King 「魔法帝への道 Mahōtei e no Michi」 is the 5th Page of Yūki Tabata's Black Clover.
Summary
After Asta defeats Sekke Bronzazza and announces his intention to become the Wizard King, the crowd thinks that Asta is being delusional. Finral is surprised at Asta's feat consider he displayed no magic in the previous tests, but Yami realizes Asta doesn't have magic and becomes interested in him. The other contestants face off and Yuno gets paired off with the arrogant noble Salim Hapshass. Salim casts his most powerful spell, but Yuno is able to defeat him easily with his Towering Tornado.[1]
The exam ends and the squad captains pick from the contestants. While Yuno is extended an offer from all the captains and decides to join the Golden Dawn squa Asta recieved no offers Yami Sukehiro tells Asta that the reason was because no one will trust an unknown power and he does not have any magical powers. The captain releases a fearsome aura and tells Asta that becoming the Wizard King means surpassing all the captains and asks Asta if he actually thinks he can do that with no magic. Asta refuses to give into Yami's intimidation and answers that no matter how many times he fails he is going to continue pursuing becoming the Wizard King. Impressed by Asta's determination, Yami acknowledges him and invites him to join his squad, the Black Bull, which Asta accepts.[2]
After the selection ends, Yuno and Asta begin to talk but Asta then has to go use the restroom. A vengeful Sekke, who got stuck in a low-ranking squad because of his defeat, follows Asta into the restroom and creates a poisonous lizard to go in after him, but Yuno stops him and chases him off. Afterward, both set off on their goal to become the Wizard King. Asta is taken to Black Bull's Base with Finral's Spatial Magic. However, when he opens the door to go inside, he ends up blasted with fire and Yami welcomes him to the worst Magic Knights squad.[3]
