EVE Hypo

EVE Hypos are single-use, restorative items in the form of a hypodermic needle used to replenish EVE, which is needed to use Plasmids. Injected directly into the user's body, an EVE Hypo fully restores the player's EVE supply. They are commonly available from the Circus of Values vending machines, or can be found simply lying around Rapture.

BioShock

Main article: BioShock

In BioShock, the player can carry up to nine EVE Hypos. When switching to using Plasmids, they can press the square button (PlayStation) or the reload button (PC) to "reload" their EVE.

BioShock 2

Main article: BioShock 2

In BioShock 2, the player can carry up to five Hypos, although it is possible to upgrade this capacity to six by using the EVE Expert Gene Tonic. The function to manually “reload” EVE with the syringe has been scraped, and will automatically “reload” when they use their entire bar of EVE.

BioShock 2 Multiplayer

In BioShock 2 Multiplayer, the player will regain their full EVE automatically by walking on/near an EVE hypo in the terrain.

Help Caption

“	An EVE Hypo fully fills your EVE bar (no matter what its current level), so that you can use your Active Plasmids. The number of EVE hypos you have remaining is displayed along with the blue bar at the top of the screen. Press _ while in Plasmid Mode to use an EVE Hypo.	”

Behind the Scenes

• As seen in the BioShock Developer Walkthrough, the early design of the EVE Hypo resembled the version in advertisements throughout Rapture, with a cleaner appearance, a purple-like liquid instead of a blue fluid, and an apple that was bigger with a large leaf and bent stem.^[1]
• In the game, the EVE Hypos have an indistinguishable fine print under the label. On the EVE Hypo Replica, the fine print is revealed to say:^[2]

• The woman on the EVE Hypo advertisement is reused as a base for the woman seen on the "Be The Envy of Rapture" poster in Bathyspheres DeLuxe, visited during Burial at Sea - Episode 2.
