Wine

A bottle of wine standing upright against a black background. The bottle is made of green glass and has a long neck, a dark brown cork, and a dark blue label with an indistinguishable white image on it. A dark liquid fills about a quarter of the bottle.
A bottle of Wine.

Wine is an alcoholic beverage in Betrayal in Antara. It aids healing during sleep.

Overview

A bottle of Wine takes up one Inventory slot and stacks up to 12. It has a heady flavor and tentative drinkers soon find their caution washed away, emptying wineskins before they know it and feeling both heartier and woozier for the experience.

If drunk directly before the party sleeps in an Inn, it causes the drinker to regain Health/Stamina at a faster rate during sleep.

Calvert Bryce kept +12 Wine in his workshop for use in magical experiments.

This article contains plot or ending spoilers.

Bryce considered using wine as a liquid material component in a spell to summon and bind a Wraith, but ultimately did not include it in the recipe.

Description

[Character] squinted at the label. Although most Antaran wine came from southern Ticor and Pianda, the quality varied widely from vineyard to vineyard and year to year.

Manual

The game's manual, citing Sharma's Guide for the Traveler, mentions the availability of "ales, meads, wines, and other spirits" in the Empire's tavern, noting that they are variable in quality but usually a welcome change from tepid waterskins.[1]

Trivia

  • "Bakril frost wine," mentioned by the tavernkeeper at The Bannerman, is one type of wine represented by this item, though an identical bottle can be given to an alcoholic wizard in Darvi who asks for Ticoran wine.
