Background
Jazhara is a Keshian noblewoman and the great-niece of Keshian ambassador Abdul Memo Hazra-Khan. She was one of Pug's finest students in his academy at Sorcerer's Isle. When she had learned all she could there, he recommended her as Prince Arutha's new court mage after Kulgan's retirement, believing that the experience would temper her and her knowledge of the Keshian court would be a valuable asset.
Her caravan was delayed on the way and she arrived at Krondor's North Gate well after midnight. As no guards could be spared to escort her, Arutha sent James to meet her and bring her to the Palace.
Chapter 0
James can explore Krondor before meeting Jazhara, but ultimately finds her at the North Gate. She apologizes for her late-night arrival, explaining that she travels without an entourage because she has found that servants make people weak. Leaving her bags with the guards to be transported to the Palace later, she asks him to show her the city on the way there.
As they approach the gates in the Palace Sector, they are followed by a child who attempts to pickpocket Jazhara and runs away, and they can choose to follow the child and break up a crime ring or to turn in at the Palace.
If they speak to the guard before going through the Palace gate, they find him concerned about a Keshian holding a position so close to the Prince. Jazhara assures him that she has taken an oath of loyalty and will defend Arutha with her life. Apologizing, he welcomes her to Krondor.
Chapter 1
The following day, after an exhaustive tour of the Palace and its personnel, Jazhara asks to see William and James takes her to the Rainbow Parrot Inn. As the chapter opens, they find William in the middle of a brawl, defending his wounded lover, Talia, from several enemies. With no time to prepare, Jazhara and James wade into the fight.
With their foes defeated, William begs Jazhara to heal Talia, but the wounds are too severe. After Talia's death, the party pursues her murderer toward Krondor's jail and are asked for help by Captain Garruth, whose men are pinned down by mercenary archers. Garruth suggests that "the woman" remain out of harm's way, but Jazhara assures him that she can handle herself in combat.
Skills
The game's strategy guide notes Jazhara's potential to be the most powerful character in the party, recommending putting points into her Defense, Initiative, and Analyze in order to speedily assess new equipment. When learning Spells, it recommends focusing on the low-cost, powerful spells in the Path of Storms, particularly Lightning Blade, the game's most cost-effective spell.[1]
