Captain Garruth is a Krondorian captain of the guard in Return to Krondor. He first appears in Chapter 1.
Overview
Garruth knows Squire James and is a trusted colleague of William conDoin. He knew Talia as Lucas's girl at the Rainbow Parrot Inn, considered her sweet, and was aware that William had been seeing her.
Chapter 1
After leaving the Rainbow Parrot, the party is stopped by Garruth, who is overseeing a barricade behind which several Kingdom guards are pinned in an alley. Garruth tells them that a huge bald man and a group of brigands had blown the back out of the jail and asks for their help. William confirms that this is the same suspect who killed Talia, and Garruth consoles him for his loss. He suggests that James and William leave Jazhara out of the battle, but she assures him that she can handle herself in combat.
If the party tries to leave the area instead of wading into the fight, Garruth calls them back, insisting that he needs their assistance.
Once the party has cleared the first floor of the jail, Garruth arrives and asks them to investigate the upper floor and the cells downstairs. The information they bring him depends on their interaction with the Scribe.
The party can also learn a rumor from the Whisperer that Garruth is Bear's cousin and prefers to keep this fact quiet.
