Crydee is a duchy in the Kingdom of the Isles. It is mentioned, but never visited, in Betrayal at Krondor. The duchy and its river, the River Crydee, appears in the game's novelization, Krondor: The Betrayal, and Crydee is marked on the book's map.
Geography
Crydee lies on the far northwestern edge of the Kingdom of the Isles. It incorporates a three-pronged fork from the River Crydee to the shores of the Endless Sea; the river itself runs further northeast through the Crydee Forest to the Lake of the Sky between the Stone Mountain to the north and the Grey Towers to the south. Elvandar lies north of the river, with the Green Heart to the south.
Betrayal at Krondor
Master Magician Pug and Warlord Tomas Megarson both started their lives as kitchen boys at Castle Crydee, and Pug was apprenticed to Kulgan there.
The duchy is currently managed by Duke Martin and his wife, the Duchess Briana.
Betrayal at Krondor Manual
The game manual notes that Crydee is the westernmost duchy in the Kingdom.
Krondor: The Betrayal
Duke Martin, Prince Arutha's half-brother, is Duke of Crydee; he and his wife Briana have a daughter.[1]
The commander at the garrison in Ylith advises the party to reach Elvandar more safely by going north to Yabon and traveling westward along the River Crydee from the Lake of the Sky. Since that would add a month's travel, the party instead braves a pass across the Grey Towers to Caldara and is escorted from there to the river's ford, which is located a week's ride from Caldara and two days from Elvandar.
Upon reaching the river, Gorath can sense Elvendar's outskirts on the other bank and waits to be hailed by the ford's elven sentries. Once permitted, the party rides across the ford and is escorted the rest of the way to Elvandar while several of the elven sentries remain at the river.[2] After their visit to Elvandar, Tomas Megarson sends word to Crydee, suggesting that Martin should go aid Arutha's forces in the Dimwood; Martin obliges.[3]
After the action at Sethanon, Martin plans to leave for Crydee at first light, and invites Arutha to bring Anita and the children there for a month's visit. Arutha instead proposes a two-week visit after his and Anita's next child is born.[4]
