The Prototype 71 is one of Dr. Psychobos' many attempts to copy the Omnitrix that was temporarily worn by Timothy.
Appearance
The Prototype 71 resembles a white wrist watch with a band similar to Ben's Omnitrix. It had two light green circles behind a clear cover and five greyish-blue pointed lines surrounding the rim.
Features
General
- The Prototype 71 allows the user to turn into various different species.
- The Prototype 71 also had a quick-change feature, which allows the user to transform from one alien to another with their mind.
- The Prototype 71 can also randomly switch the user from one alien to another, similar to the Randomizer Function of Ben's Omnitrix.
Display Mode
- The Prototype 71 has a selection function, where the user can choose the alien they want to transform through the nucleus, and then the nucleus rises to transform the user.
Clothing
- The Prototype 71 is programmed to give its aliens punk clothes
Malfunctions
- Due to it being a faulty prototype, the aliens had defects which hinders their powers, like Upchuck getting sick when eating.
- Due to the random transformations, the user can transform into unwanted aliens in the middle of the fight.

Trivia
- Unlike other Omnitrices, the aliens accessed by this device does not have an Omnitrix symbol.
- Dr. Psychobos had a shelf of other Omnitrix imitations he created, such as the Prototype 101 and the Prototype 615. It is unknown if these are simply code names or if Dr. Psychobos actually created that many prototypes.
- It is implied that the aliens only gotten defects overtime when Timothy used the device more, as Timothy demonstrated he had knowledge on how Heatblast and XLR8 are supposed to work, but is unable to perform those feats.
- Skateasaurus is the only alien that Timothy used that did not display any defects, as he was used the earliest.
- Is unknown how many DNA species it contains.
