Lethe was a large, remote mining moon located on the United American Frontier.
Overview
While often described as a planet, the moon was initially settled by idealistic colonists and adventurous scientists who sought to create their own paradise beyond the reach of corporate intervention. At some point, Lethe was forcefully annexed by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation after the discovery of trimonite, and became a joint venture between the Company and the United Americas.
History
Colonization
Some time in the past, a mysterious city (nicknamed Xeno City) existed below the surface of the planet.
Humans established a colony on the planet, and erected an atmospheric processor to create a breathable atmosphere of the planet. Jonas Harper was born on Lethe, who had a daughter, Cassandra with a woman named Becca. In 2177, the colonists attempted to rebel against the Weyland-Yutani Corporation on Lethe, by hijacking the USCSS Montero and getting it off world. Jonas Harper, who had joined the marines, led a team that successfully suppressed the rebellion. The ship was then grounded in the Berkley's Dock spaceport for the next two decades. Jonas would later look back on it as him having been on the "wrong side of history."
Whilst mining for trimonite, the miners uncovered a mysterious ancient city, which housed a number of xenomorph eggs.
Xenomorph outbreak
During the resulting Xenomorph outbreak on Pioneer Station, the USS Otago was hit by missiles from the Cerberus Protocol satellites orbiting Lethe, crash landing on the moon. Lethe's surface was later bombarded by nuclear missiles from the Cerberus Protocol satellites.
