KOI–723.06K was a planet located in the KOI-723 System in the Far Spinward Colonies. Kareti Colony was located on KOI–723.06K.
History
During the establishment of the Far Spinward Colonies, a Weyland Corp probe discovered single–celled organisms on KOI–723.06K, which attracted the scientific community. However, an error led to the planet being earmarked for colonization, and a full expedition under J.V. Gorham was sent to KOI–723.06K.[1]
Determined to outdo fellow pioneer Eldridge Dylan Sanchez, Gorham ordered the mission to proceed, and the expedition's efforts immediately ran into trouble. The carbon dioxide–heavy atmosphere was unsuitable for terraforming, and the Atmosphere Processing Plant established by Gorham's party was pushed close to overload. Defeated, the settlers departed for Sanchez Outpost on KOI-1938.01; meanwhile, Weyland Corp assigned a team of scientists to staff the existing settlement, known as Kareti Colony.[1]
Around the turn of the twenty–second century, contact was lost with the Far Spinward Colonies. Thereabouts, the inhabitants of Kareti Colony stumbled upon dormant members of the Fulfremmen, an ancient race. Awakened, the Fulfremmen overwhelmed the colony before its inhabitants could fight back, and transformed the base—and KOI–723.06K itself—into a living Proto-Hive. As of 2186, the planet was recorded as uninhabitable.[1]
Climate and terrain
With terraforming having failed, KOI–723.06K's atmosphere was toxic, with temperatures averaging around –73 degrees Celsius and maintaining an icy surface. As of 2186, KOI–723.06K had been overtaken by a Proto–Hive.[1]

KOI–723.06K's singular export was research.[1]

Per Weyland estimates, KOI–723.06K's population was reported to stand at 126, which was consistent with the actual number.[1]
