Carvalho was a member of a Union of Progressive Peoples Unity Committee and a contributor to the design of the OCAP-91 Volcan flamethrower, alongside fellow members Alves and Phan. Following its release of a militarized version of the weapon, the Hyperdyne Corporation acknowledged Carvalho and the others for their input.
