Capelli Colony was a Weyland Corp colony and urban administrative center located on the planet KOI-2290.01 in the Far Spinward Colonies. Initially a production center for Atmosphere Processing Plants, Capelli Colony was isolated along with the rest of the FSC after a panoply of cosmic phenomena severed the sector from wider civilization. Thereabouts, local colonists discovered hibernating members of the Fulfremmen, an ancient race, and Capelli Colony was overwhelmed and converted into a living Proto-Hive by the creatures.
History
Capelli Colony was established by Weyland Corp on the Far Spinward Colonies planet KOI-2290.01 at some point prior to 2071, and was populated by engineers, environmental specialists, and technicians. The first colony to manufacture next–generation Atmosphere Processing Plants, Capelli Colony also played a role as an urban administrative center, and featured an enormous metropolitan sprawl studded with mountainous atmosphere processors. As of 2071, the colony's inhabitants numbered 225,000; however, the subsequent discovery of valuable ores on KOI–2290.01 caused a population explosion of more than a million. Colonists from Capelli Colony founded July Outpost on KOI-1739.01, to which atmosphere processor production was moved after fusion reactor safety protocols dictated it.[1]
In 2088, Capelli Colony joined other FSC settlements in becoming a member state of the newly minted Three World Empire. In 2110, the colony was severed from the Middle Heavens along with the rest of the FSC by a chain of cosmic phenomena thereafter dubbed the Isolation. Shortly after, colonists stumbled upon hibernating members of an ancient race known as the Fulfremmen and roused them. The awakened creatures overran Capelli Colony before an effective resistance could be mounted and unleashed their mutagenic capabilities on the colony, transforming it into a living Proto-Hive.[1]
Along with July Outpost and Kareti Colony, which were likewise affected, Capelli Colony was later one of several such sites to be picketed by Gorham's Marauders, an organization dedicated to foiling the advance of the Fulfremmen.[1]
Behind the scenes
Capelli Colony appears in Alien: The Roleplaying Game — Building Better Worlds, and is listed as one of the locations that players can visit during the main campaign.[1]
