The Australia Wars took place in the Three World Empire member state of Australia between 2172 and 2182. The result of severe food shortages and resultant dissent, the conflict saw the Australian government overthrown by a rebel faction; however, order was restored by a nuclear strike implemented by the United Americas.
History
Embittered by food shortages and the resulting riots in the Three World Empire member state of Australia on Earth, a group of rebels launched an uprising against the 3WE and the local government in 2172.
The success of the insurrection garnered interstellar attention, with the Australian–founded colony world of Linna 349 being among several such colonies to launch its own rebellion in 2174. The RMC F903WE Automatic Assault Rifle, once used by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation's early colonization efforts, gained infamy as a symbol of the Australian insurgents.
The United Americas intervened and brought an end to the conflict in 2182 by launching a nuclear payload into the Australian capital of Canberra, with the country's official government being reestablished in the aftermath. Having prevented the 3WE from fragmenting, the UA used the outcome as a propaganda opportunity.
