Jason Rusch is a scientist at Mercury Labs. He is also a graduate student from Hudson University and a former member of the F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. project. During his time with the project, Jason co-wrote an 800-page paper with Professor Martin Stein regarding it.
Biography
University career
At Hudson University, Jason Rusch was among those who worked on the F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. project with Professor Martin Stein. During this time, Jason and Stein co-wrote an 800-page research paper regarding the project and posted it online.
After Stein's disappearance the night of the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator explosion on December 11, 2013, F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. was confiscated of all of its research by the army. Following the ordeal, Jason became paranoid about the corresponding events connected to the project and attempted to distance himself from it.
After graduation, Jason mailed in his résumé to S.T.A.R. Labs and Mercury Labs, eventually being given a job at the latter.[1]
Meeting with Caitlin Snow
Over a year later, Jason met with Dr. Caitlin Snow at CC Jitters, as she wished to know about the F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. project. Concerned, Jason gave her a brief overview of the project and his history with it. They parted ways, as he didn't want to speak of it anymore.[1]

Behind the scenes
- In the DC comics, Jason Rusch was the second Firestorm, receiving the powers after the unfortunate death of Ronnie Raymond. Later when Ronnie returned from the dead, Jason and Ronnie found they now shared the power and must merge in order to become Firestorm.
- In the Arrowverse continuity, Jason's role is given to Jefferson Jackson.
