Ruby Tribe |

Rubies
The Ruby Tribe is one of the two tribes genetically assigned to a person upon birth[1], the other being the Amethyst Tribe of which they have forbidden all trade with. They are comprised of a monarchy, with a member of the Royal Ruby Family being heir at any given time. Currently this member is the Ruby Queen, the most feared demon.
Compared to other tribes, the Ruby Tribe is overall more violent and physically active, using fire as their main form of defense. Members of the tribe also have to follow a strict dress code (only red, white, and black clothes are allowed) and even have a distinct lack of an emergency services number[1] due to Rubies being expected to handle themselves in altercations.

Members of the tribe also have to follow a strict dress code (only red, white, and black clothes are allowed) and even have a distinct lack of an emergency services number[1] due to Rubies being expected to handle themselves in altercations. Andrew
Andrew is one of the middle-ranking officers of the Ruby Tribe, given his rank as a Sergeant. It is known that he has gone on at least two covert operations on behalf of his tribe[2], which consisted of an infiltration into the Amethyst Tribe to gather intel and observations on Ari at her residence to monitor her activities. In his free time, Andrew likes to partake in outdoor activities. Aoso
Aoso is one of the recognized mages of the Ruby Tribe, utilizing esoteric techniques to manipulate fire. She is presumed to be one of the more powerful members of the tribe, being a vital component of the Kitsutori art. Despite modern technology being available, Aoso prefers to hunt her food in the woods[3]. Personally, her favorite idol is Hatsune Miku which was revealed when she was unknowingly fooled by Dawn Usagikami's costume of the same character[4]. Ari
Ari (not to be confused with Aria) is an obscure, supposedly Ruby[5], female that has only been mentioned in certain Mail. Her daily routine is noted to consist of everyday activities such as sitting outside her home and visiting the Hybrid Café. During service for Hykura Entertainment, Hayaka mentioned Ari not being human and holding many secrets, though this was only in a play[6]. In addition, Ari does reportedly live with a roommate belonging to the Void Tribe. Cassandra
Cassy (full name Cassandra) is the unspoken older sister of the Ruby Queen; being the 10th Royal Demon Descendant[7]. In fact, she was supposed to be the current heir of the Royal Ruby Family, but was exiled due to her purple eyes resembling the Amethyst Tribe. As a result, she became a biker[1] but still contains the essence of Ruby spirit within her. Dawn Usagikami
Dawn is a highly trained rifleman that possesses an assemblage of high-caliber weaponry who is also symbolically represented as a phoenix during various instances. He belongs to the Usagikami Family[8] as one of the wielders of the Kitsutori technique. Despite his deleterious tendencies, he is known to have a love for cosplaying. Additionally, Dawn seemingly has connections with the enigmatic Torikami family, with further mentions of "Kitsukami" in-game[9]. Fei Usagikami
Fei is the sister of Yami, Fade, and Dawn[10], though is only actually twins with Yami. As such, she is apart of the prestige Usagikami Family. She uses a type of 'laser-sword' as her weapon, which is derived from the Kitsu Sword Art in which she excels after learning it in a Ruby School[11]. On the outside, Fei is remarkably calm, but this can change when she is provoked. Additionally, Fei can withstand the cold, which is not something most Rubies can do besides Vera[12]. Fira, God of Fate
Fira is the (Ruby[13]) God of Fate who is scarcely mentioned in-game; her powers and capabilities as the God of Fate are unknown. It has been mentioned that she has experienced great loss, though Theresa, her assigned angel, was created to ameliorate this. As Theresa fulfilled her duty, the current whereabouts and details of Fira are unknown. Kaiyo
Kaiyo is the senior mage of magic academy and the older sister of mizu she has graduated at the top of magic academy and possesses magical water spells she shows respect to everyone and has love to her younger sister Kaiyo even killed a void lord by herself but its unknown which void lord she killed Lora
Lora is a profound demolitions expert, having an affinity for any weapons that require firepower. She uses her talent to manufacture her own pyrotechnical bombs. Amongst children, she is known as Aunt Lora[14]. Mesa
Mesa is an especially trained marksman who has been honing her skills in the occupation ever since youth[15]. Due to her level of experience, she famously never misses any of her shots[16]. Mesa currently lives at a farm within rural territory of the Ruby Tribe, which is supposedly littered with dangerous wildlife[7]. Mizu
Mizu is the younger sister of Kaiyo, and the young mage of the Academy of Amethyst Magic. She is also known to be a classmate of Rika. Rika
Rika is a classmate of Mizu and one of the younger members of the tribe, seemingly diagnosed with eighth-grade syndrome[7], which is a disorder that involves youth exhibiting sudden, delusional behaviour. In relation to this, Rika realizes herself as the self-proclaimed 'Queen Chrono', having supposedly met a god-like deity that granted her powerful mage spells and the ability to control time[17]. Additionally, she looks up to the Ruby Queen as a figure of admiration she also attends the same academy like Mizu and Kaiyo does[7]. Ruby Queen
The Ruby Queen (real name unknown) is the current tribe leader, subsequently being a member of the Royal Ruby Family as the 11th Royal Demon Descendant[7]. As such, she is a demon, and one of the most feared across all tribes at that due to being prone to violence. It has also been noted that the Ruby Queen solely drinks blood, though the exact type of blood is unknown[12]. In combat, she uses the Ruby Tribe's signature weapon, the Dragonwave shotgun. Vera
Vera is an engineer that specializes in building sentries against Voids. She has notably tried to join Ruby Tech, but was rejected for unknown reasons[7], leading her to join ArenaTech instead. Her personal interests include sweet drinks and studying the Russian language[12]. Interestingly, her Berserk Sentries are phoenix-powered, hinting at a connection to Dawn Usagikami. Vivy
Yami Usagikami
Yami is the twin sister of Fei, and subsequently sister to Fade and Dawn of the Usagikami Family[10]. It is subtly implied that she has undergone physical augmentations to a certain extent, as her skin is not effected by her powerful flames; it is even rumored that she can withstand the heat of the sun[12]. |
Amethyst Tribe |
---|
Amethysts
The Amethyst Tribe is one of the two tribes genetically assigned to a person upon birth[1], the other being the Ruby Tribe. They currently lack a form of king or queen[1] unlike the Ruby Tribe but are implied to have once had such.
The tribe is generally more friendly yet less active than the Ruby Tribe, with members being more orientated around support in-game. The tribe's headquarters are located in the Reactor along with their emergency services number being "222", a number representing faith and harmony. The tribe's headquarters are located in the Reactor along with their emergency services number being "222", a number representing faith and harmony. Akari
Akari is one of the most infamous Amethyst Tribe members, being a dedicated thief. She has most notably stolen from CELRIO, obtaining the deadly Plasma Accelerator weapon she utilizes which can evaporate Voids. Her other acts of burglary include but are not limited to stealing the phone of the ArenaTech lead and retrieving an Inferno Boss costume(s) after being bitter about the Carolina Reaper Gauntlet[20]. It is also assumed that she is one of many clones by the name of Akari[21]. Aliza
Aliza, nicknamed "The Great Amethyst", is the tribe's mystic arts user, using her arcane spells for a variety of purposes. Despite being a mere first-year at Amzard Academy[3], her magic is quite effective. In-game, she sends the player Mails for certain achievements they have accomplished and vendors Mastery Perks in exchange for Mastery Points. It is known that she has created most, if not all the Mastery Perks that she sells. Furthermore, she is the one that transports the player to the Grandmaster Field if opted[22]. Beacon
The Amethyst Star is an advanced mechanical construct powered by amethyst gemstones built by the Amethysts on behalf of the company CELRIO[12], likely due to Beacon-Chan being a partner of the company. It evokes a pleasant feeling to people who look at it, though Rubies won't admit to this due to tribe relations[7]. Billie Miyamoto
Billie is a person subservient to ArenaTech as the Lead Developer/Chief Executive Officer of the company, with him releasing frequent "updates" to the Hybrid Café's board game with assistance from other ArenaTech employees. He could possibly be related to Miyamoto herself, as indicated by his surname. Etta
Etta is a professional sniper for the Amethyst Tribe, using a railgun to pierce through Voids in-game. The railgun in question is apart of a series of weapons known as "Lances" developed by CELRIO, with her being seen using weapons such as the Fusion and Void Lances respectively. Hikari
Hikari is an individual of extradimensional descent, originally having come from an alternate world where the Tribe War was still in effect[7]. Due to this, she has extreme resentment for Rubies and potentially Ruby-hybrids. Her foreign technology also enables her to withstand otherwise minacious circumstances as demonstrated in the Carolina Reaper Gauntlet[23]. Interestingly, she utilizes a Hyper Lance, which comes from the same series of guns that Etta uses, meaning that a counterpart of CELRIO does exist in her dimension. Specifically, it is a Hyper Lance Generation 5, which is her dimension's equivalent of a Viper Lance[12]. Sludge
Xndra
Xndra is one of the more mysterious figures, communicating exclusively in Morse Code[7] in all instances of her speaking. However, this can be chalked up to a lack of human language comprehension as she arrived on Earth along with her brother due to unforeseen circumstances[3]. She develops various mixtures of potions with unknown ingredients in order to assist the Amethyst Tribe. Xndra goes to great lengths to keep the ingredients of these potions secret, with her outright refusing to elaborate when questioned, implying she has more than meets the eye. However, it is known that the taste of her potions is similar to summer berry juice[12]. Interestingly, the Ruby Queen has great repulsion for her potions, though this may simply be due to tribe relations. CELRIO
CELRIO is a secretive, Amethyst-driven Hybrid technology company[12] that has accomplished great feats such as creating the Beacon, Drones, and the Plasma Accelerator. The company's Lead Developer is Nova, and their official motto is "the peak of efficiency"[12]. Additionally, CELRIO is a partner company with ArenaTech, with both companies relating to technology in some form. Despite all this, CELRIO is quite shady, having been raided by law enforcement before. Academy of Amethyst Magic
The Academy of Amethyst Magic is a institution that little is known about. It caters to non-amethyst tribe members, including Rika, and both Mizu and Kaiyo, Senior Mage, both of which have unknown orientations in terms of tribe membership. Matriculated students learn different types of magic here. |
Hybrid Tribe |
---|
Hybrids
The Hybrid Tribe is the conflated result between members of the Ruby and Amethyst Tribes. Citizens of this tribe cannot actually be born as a Hybrid, and instead must convert themselves into the Hybrid society by choice[1]. The tribe serves as the middlemen between the two mentioned tribes, as they explicitly do not trade supplies with one another. The Hybrid Tribe's emergency services number is "999".

Fade is an entertainer that specializes in performing magic tricks, with her being apart of the Usagikami Family[8] as a Ruby-hybrid. She, along with her brother Dawn, were hoping to become bartenders prior to the Void apocalypse, but this ambition was patently cut short. It is worthy to note that Fade is not old enough to wield swords, but conversely is capable of using guns adequately[24]. Additionally, she has sold a card game to ArenaTech with unknown purposes and agreements on behalf of the Usagikami Family[2]. Farm
The Farm is physically a miniature plot of land that serves to grow crops. It was fittingly made by Hybrid Crops Incorporated, an agriculture company[7]. On the outside, there is nothing noteworthy as it is simply a farm. General Noob
The Artillerist (General Noob) uses explosives as his main form of attack; not much is known about him aside from his status as a "general" and the fact that he previously owned a Builder's Club membership, implying that Roblox is a game in Arena : Tower Defense's universe. Haezo
Haezo is a professional hitman that works exclusively with contracts regarding money. It is hinted that he has made ritualistic deals in the past, though this is not confirmed[25]. He was also taught how to place curses on Voids by Mayla, though how the latter learned this technique remains a mystery. Hiva
Kristal Nekokami
Kristal is a Hybrid citizen, though she is apart of the Nekokami Clan alongside Hayaka[26]. She uses her special staff to manipulate ice-based materials and cryogenically inflict harm upon Voids. ArenaTech
ArenaTech is a technology company that also manages the Hybrid Café, managed by the Lead Developer Billie. Similarly to CELRIO, they are dubious in nature, having operated in the black market for their own benefits across different types of industries. Nekodough
Nekodough is the donut supplier for Hybrid Café; their slogan is "Mwunch Mwunch" as seen printed on their boxes located within the café. They sell at least six different varieties of donuts as seen in-game. Hybrid Crops Incorporated
Hybrid Crops Inc. is a Hybrid-owned agriculture company that has notably created the Farm. They are a wealthy company, as hinted by Mayla. Moreover, they have sold insurance in the form of Mastery Perks, which Aliza happens to sell to the player. HybEx
Hybrid Express (abbreviated as HybEx) is an express transportation company that has only one known appearance; when delivering the Hatsune Miku cosplay to Dawn Usagikami through Mail on behalf of SUPERSTAR INDUSTRIES. |
Void Tribe |
---|
Delta
Delta is by far the most ominous character in-game, with him having never even spoke on record. He is commonly associated with fishcakes (🍥)[1], along with purple tulips being his preferred type of flora[29]. Additionally, he has hidden links with Melly, as seen on the book he wields in-game in which she is sketched onto the pages as a diagram[30]. Melly
Melly is the daughter of a fallen God[7] and appropriately wields a scythe imbued with unparalleled power. Though assumed to be Veni, the creator of the Void Lords, it is unknown which God she was actually born to. As Melly is a Void that does not seek to harm humanity, she has the ability to communicate and properly integrate into human society, yet she still feels out-of-place after the Hybrid society accepted her into their population. Nekoro Nekokami
Nekoro is a Void Tribe member affiliated with the Nekokami Family[31][32] that has the ability to revive the undead, though such subjects will be under her control without free will. This is collectively known as the art of Nekomancy, a play on the word necromancy and an obscure technique. Even with such power, she does not use it for evil purposes, bearing no intentions to harm the other tribes[7]. However, she does use it defensively for herself and against Voids, with her even using her Blessed Voids as a type of bodyguard[33]. |
Miscellaneous |

Miscellaneous
Miscellaneous subjects are people who do not have any known direct conformations with the main tribes, though they may be considered Hybrid by technical standards.
Miscellaneous subjects are people who do not have any known direct conformations with the main tribes, though they may be considered Hybrid by technical standards. Anti-Cassandra
Anti-Cassy is a character derivative of Cassy, largely being the opposite of her in terms of personality. For instance, she is much gentler and has a different sense of clothing, wearing a white tuxedo and eyepatch in-game as opposed to a biker outfit. She has also supposedly learned to manifest and control spirits to fight on her behalf[34] after being taught by Cassy[1]. Aria
Hayaka Nekokami
Hayaka is one of the higher ranks in respect of the Nekokami Clan[7], though inferred not to be the highest. She is noted to have an expertise in anemology and cryology, the study of winds and snow/ice respectively. Kaiya
Kaiya works for the Hybrid Café as an event manager, appearing exclusively during events and managing the rewards that are given. This includes being the designer of the skins/bosses of an event. She is also always seen carrying an AT Generation 3 Tablet, most likely for her mentioned job[12]. However, Kaiya does have a darker past, having been associated with the black market with ArenaTech. Mayla
Mayla, dubbed the "Heart of Gold", is a lady infatuated with money and currencies. Being considerably rich, she has sponsored the Hybrid Café at least once during a special occasion. She has also personally stated that she has a job, but did not disclose what the job was[35]. Her favorite drink sold by the Hybrid Café is Void Mocha, with her fondness growing further if accompanied with ![]() Miyamoto
Miyamoto allegedly holds the position of chairman in ArenaTech, with Billie reporting directly to her. Her personal office is secretly located underneath the stairs leading to the second floor in the Hybrid Café. The office itself consists of a desk, computer, figurines, telephone, and figurines. Despite the telephone being Miyamoto's, she doesn't actually use it[38], meaning that the people who actually do use it are the higher-ups of ArenaTech as stated by Naru. Naru
Naru is the pronounced barista of the Hybrid Café, being one of the first characters that the player meets in-game. She primarily serves confections at the counter, but also writes Mail to the player informing them on updates. However, she does apparently hide more than meets the eye, having temporarily disappeared from the Café to open a burger stall on accounts of a police raid[39]. Theresa
Narrator, God of History
The God of History is the titular narrator of Arena: Defense!, guiding the player throughout waves. Most, if not all information on them is based off conjecture. However, they are seemingly connected to Aria and two other undisclosed characters, having played chess with the four of them[17]. Veni
Veni is the creator of the Void Lords, a supreme race of Voids designed to counteract their respective tribes. They are confirmed to be a deceased God[17], though what exactly they are a God of remains unknown. Hykura Entertainment
Hykura Entertainment is a dedicated entertainment company that is known to create stage-plays, with the only known instance having Hayaka, Beacon-Chan, and an unnamed Void Lord acting within it. Nekokami Clan
The Nekokami Clan is a clan that lives in the remote, arctic environment, using the cold climate to their advantage. Their mortal enemies are the Cold Voids, which are a branch of Voids that have adapted to the frigid temperatures as well. The clan uses ![]() SUPERSTAR INDUSTRIES
SUPERSTAR INDUSTRIES is an obscure company that is known to have delivered the Hatsune Miku cosplay (through Hybrid Express) to Dawn Usagikami upon his request. Books
Books are publications published by tribes in their own languages that contain information like how to perform certain types of magic. See the Books page for more. |
Events | ||
---|---|---|
Tribe War
The Tribe War was an event that took place long ago as one of the most widespread conflicts in history. It was a battle between the two largest tribes, Rubies and Amethysts. How exactly events unfolded is unclear, though it has lead to the tribes having tense relations in modern times. Demonic Prophecy
In the past, a prognostication was made which depicted the genesis of an ancient demon-like entity; this entity is said to bring the likes of even the Void Tribe to shame[42]. Ruby Arts
The Ruby Tribe managed to develop various techniques for usage in combat, namely the Kitsune and Hinotori art. These are said to be extremely potent crafts, and can potentially even summon a quintessential being into existence if they are used in tandem[43], though only the Hinotori art has been showcased thus far through Dawn Usagikami. Board Game
At some point, a board game based off prior events in history[12] was developed for use in the Hybrid Café by ArenaTech. This board game directly correlates to the events in-game; to clarify, Arena: Defense! is collectively a board game. Some of the characters within this board game are supposedly "talents" working with ArenaTech, three of which are Andrew, Haezo, and Delta[44]. Pepper Challenges
The Ghost Pepper Challenge and Carolina Reaper Gauntlet are a set of food challenges that were released by the Hybrid Café on 21 May 2022. The challenges in question involve a customer eating a pepper of choice and them having to withstand the harsh, spicy aftereffects. This is symbolized through a grueling set of 100 waves in-game. Summer 2022
Upon the arrival of summer in 2022 (specifically 3 July), the Hybrid Café released a set of two challenges which interestingly did not take place at the café itself, rather outdoors on an unknown beach[45] which had temperatures of up to 1,000 degrees Celsius due to the contents of the challenges, though this is not represented in-game. Instead, it is symbolized through a set of 100 waves, similarly to the preceding Pepper Challenges. Halloween 2022
Nearly three months after the Summer Challenges ended on 24 July 2022, the Hybrid Café delivered a new challenge(s) on 7 October 2022 in celebration of Halloween[46]. Along with this, a previously underlying employee, Kaiya, introduced herself as the cafe's event coordinator. Winter 2022
During the winter season in 2022, an extreme blizzard overtook the Hybrid Café and its surroundings resulting in the building being engulfed in thick snow. By order of the Hybrid Government, any customer within the café at the time had to remain there until the blizzard subsided[47], which would not be until 14 January 2023. Despite these circumstances, the Hybrid Café used this situation to their advantage to promote a Winter Event for their board game. A similar incident occurred in 2021, though to a lesser degree to where the government was not involved. |
