Mac iCar (aka Matthew Overtaker), is a former Piston Cup race car who fictionally raced for the Apple team in the 2006 animated film Cars from Pixar.
History
Cars
In Cars, Mac is one of the thirty-six race cars that competes in the final race of the Piston Cup season at the Motor Speedway of the South. When Chick Hicks causes the big crash, he is (and the only one) not involved in the wreck. He spends most of the race behind Dale Earnhardt Jr., in around the 13th position. At one point in the race, The King laps him, and Mac finishes the race in 15th position.
Between Cars and Cars 3
Mac retired during the events between Cars and Cars 3 and was replaced by an unnamed Apple Racer, which itself was replaced by J.P. Drive, a next-generation race car.
Physical description
Mac is an Axxelo Fission (a model that resembles the real life Chevrolet Impala SS NASCAR) that is painted white, with the Apple logo on his hood, and the number "84" painted in grey on his doors and roof.

Bio from Cars
- "Mac iCar likes things clean and simple. He doesn't go for the flashy colors, and gaudy stickers that adorn some of his fellow racers. He prefers a simple sleek design, and feels this creates a bold statement, one that says, "I think different."[1]
Trivia
- Mac's racing number, 84, is a reference to the year 1984, when the Macintosh personal computer was first released, along with Apple's commercial based on Nineteen Eighty-Four, a book by George Orwell.
- In early versions of the Car Finder game, he was named "Matthew Overtaker".
- The diecast toy of Mac iCar is one of the rarest and most valuable diecasts to date, as only 1,000 units were produced. It was available exclusively in a 36-car Motor Speedway of the South box set that was only available to those with a Red Line Club membership.[2]
- The reason why he never saw any other releases ever since, is most likely due to licensing issues with Apple.
- This is also likely the reason the Cars 3 veteran racer and J.P. Drive have never been released.
- The reason why he never saw any other releases ever since, is most likely due to licensing issues with Apple.
- According to the production film commentary for Cars, Mac was the only racer to not be involved in the crash.
