NPCs, or Non-Player-Characters, are deceased beings from the real world who hold facilitating roles within Zero Game. NPCs generally carry out tasks for Operators, administer game levels, and assist in monitoring gameplay. NPCs do not possess memories before their deaths.
Powers and Abilities
Systems
Each NPC has a unique kind of ability, called a system. This system is modified and processed into abilities that players can then access. Systems can cancel each other out, however they cannot cancel abilities and vice versa.
Teleportation
All NPCs have the ability to teleport multiple players, including themselves, anywhere they desire. When there is a change in the first place ranking, a designated NPC is required to teleport to the location of the new first ranker and award them with the Stone of Reincarnation. After the approval of the After-Game Care Service, NPCs are now required to transport the winners of each Game Level safely back to their homes.
According to Alex Baek, the NPC teleportation system is flawed, since it does not allow a safe landing after the transport. This results in players constantly falling and crashing over each other after each travel.
PVP
As moderators of Zero Game, NPCs have the ability to intervene and stop PVP (Player versus Player) at any given time, if deemed inappropriate or abusive. Players must comply with the interference, else they will be punished. In certain circumstances, NPCs are required to monitor PVP.
Megaphone
NPCs are given special items dedicated only to be used by NPCs, such as the Megaphone. The Megaphone amplifies an NPCs' voice during announcements made to a large audience. So far in the series, only Noise and Micaela have been seen using this object.
Umbrella
NPCs who do not have wings or the ability to fly, carry around an umbrella that glows the same color as their aura. NPCs use these to stay afloat in the air or to stop players when interfering during PVP. So far, only Noise and Rita have been seen carrying this object.
