Sakon is a character in Majora's Mask.[1]
Biography
In Majora's Mask, Sakon is a thief who has a Hideout situated in Ikana Canyon.[2] His hideout is protected by a huge Boulder which can only be opened by Sakon himself.[3]
He can be seen in North Clock Town in the night of the First Day attempting to steal a Bomb Bag from the old lady of the Bomb Shop at around 12:15 AM (the lady herself appears at midnight).[4] As this occurs, Sakon will be running in various directions until he reaches the gate leading to Termina Field. Link can retrieve the stolen bag by striking Sakon with his Sword where he will drop it but continue to run away, which will guarantee the Blast Mask for Link from the old lady (she will simply give thanks if already obtained). If the young Hero of Time instead attacks Sakon with an Arrow, the Hookshot, or another Bomb, the bag will explode, blowing the thief up and killing him instantly, therefore failing the objective of retrieving it back. If Link allows him to escape, the Big Bomb Bag will be sold at the Curiosity Shop the next night.[5] Sakon also steals the Sun Mask from Kafei.[6] Link can help Kafei recover his mask during the Final Day by infiltrating Sakon's Hideout.
He can also be seen in the lower valley of the Ikana Canyon running in circles. There, he will try to steal Link's Sword if talked to,[7] but will be stopped by Tatl.[8] Sakon can sometimes be seen outside the Curiosity Shop at night, where he talks about how the Man from Curiosity Shop is unfair, and that he just wants his fair share.[9]
Trivia
- He is the Terminan counterpart of the Man Carrying Sack character seen in the Hyrule Castle Town Market during Link's childhood in Ocarina of Time.
- Sakon is the first character in The Legend of Zelda series able to be killed by Link that is not a common enemy or story-related antagonist.
- The cutscene of Sakon stealing the bomb bag from the old lady is at real-time, meaning it will go very slowly had Link played the Inverted Song of Time until it ends at 12:30 AM.
- If Link were to make Sakon blow up while doing the Reuniting Kafei and Anju sidequest, its mission will ultimately fail, as Kafei will be unable to enter the thief's Hideout to retrieve his Sun's Mask.
